Higher clocked dual cores are better for games than low clocked quad cores.

Yes but in a year or so this may change. I'd go for quad core.

In a year or two that CPU will be useless. If your going quad get at least a 2.6.

In the near future, there may be more games that take advantage of more cores, like GTA IV. Now, I don't know how much of a bottleneck it would be when playing them with a dual-core, but to play it safe, I'd say go get the quad-core if you can.

today the dual but there is a move towards quads, but that quad wont be that great when more games support quads so I'd go with the dual unless you do things like video or 3d rendering.
