for a free and entirely browser-based game, it's incredible.

it's 95% Quake 3 Arena, 5% added features. so if you've played Q3A, you'll know pretty much exactly what to expect.

I tried it out today and it was a pretty seamless experience. Didn't have to wait for a queue, no lag online, had extremely good framerates, and the game itself is a lot of fun. It's pretty amazing that Id has gotten the game to work so well in a browser. I'm not a huge fan of the game's pace though, Quake is so fast you have no time to really think. It basically boils down to memorizing maps and having good reflexes and aim.

I played it last year for a while....I wasn't impressed. I know it's free but it's still a Quake game and I'm disappointed that this is all id Software has done for Quake in the last 10 years.....a Quake III rehash, website browser game that's taking over 2 years to complete but should only take 3-4 months since the majority of content could just be copy/pasted from it's predecessor and polished a bit more. Please don't tell me that when this "beta" is over and the version 1.0 hits.......I still have to log into a website just to access it. Can't they give us an option to just install it on our PCs and launch via desktop shortcut? We've been launching games like that for 15+ years and you can still put advertisements in-game. And what audience is id Software targeting for this game? I don't see how hardcore Quake III Arena fans that use CPMA would want to jump into this. Quake III CPMA >>> Quake Live. Overall it's good for a free game, but it does not live up to my standards of an arena FPS in the 21st century.

I played it back when it was in beta, got myself rocked, and quit because the people playing it were so much better than me(then again they were testers so they had experience on their side).
