Quake Wars goes "Multiplatform" between the PC, 360, and PS3. The good news is that the PC version is still on schedule for release in Q2 according to the news article here at gamespot, and the PC-to-console ports haven't gotten a date yet. At least it's not going down the same road as UT with simultaneous releases....

As long as the PC version is good, I guess they can stick it on whatever platform they want. Good news for 360/PS3 owners, though.

Yeah, April-May-June, I would imagine it's somewhere around June though and before the next QuakeCon, as Carmack has previously said.

Will the gameplay be cross platform or is it just being released on the other platforms?

It doesn't sound like it, as it would be a virtual slaughter house to say the least.

I wouldn't sweat it. Quake is a PC game, period. It doesn't bother me that consoles get our cheap versions, so long as we get our game first and the interface and controls aren't dumbed down, which they shouldn't be, as they are farming out the ports to other companies.

Don't worry, It's a dumbed down version. 16 players instead on of 64, no mods, controller controls, whining 13 year olds on XBL, probably lesser graphics too. :)

PC version > console versions.

After playing a lot of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, I'm really wondering how well Quake Wars would work with analog sticks.

But I guess it doesn't matter so long as it doesn't affect the PC version's gameplay.

So it won't require that pay-to-play Live crap?

As long as the PC interface isn't changed. I am all for it. More money for them.

But just make sure that the PC version is suited for PC gamers and the Console version is suited for Console gamers....

Then everyone is happy.

Yeah... it's funny how when a PC game is later ported to consoles that it's all good news for the people playing the console version, while when a console game is ported to PC, or built to be cross-platform from the ground up, it's always bad news for PC gamers. Kind of speaks a ton about the quality of console games.

Well, Splash Damage is an excellent developer, so that plus the excellent engine enhancements tells me that the quality will not be affected by these console ports in any way.

I trust that Quake Wars will be so good that it brings along the end of society with it. I'm inveting in an underground bunker before a new gaming rig (seriously it's going to be a great game).
