question about a new sata drive...

I just put in a new for the first time a SATA drive which is a WD SATA 300MB/s 250gb 7200 16mb cache WD CAVIER SE16

And is there a program or something to make sure the drive is running as the specs say cause I havent seen mind blowing performance gains from my old ide maxtor ata133 7200 drive.

that's because the extra bandwidth of sata isn't used as hdds can very rarley exced the 133mb/s of pata. the advantage of sata is nice thin cables and each drive having its own cable

If you still want to run a bench though download HD Tune.
