I am looking into buying

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B001TJ5S5I/ref=pd_luc_mri?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=A9B09ZK9BZJQ6&v=glance

and do not see it specify whether it has a dvd/cd reader or burner. Do all blu-ray drives at least READ cd's/dvd's? It would be kind of lame not to have a burner, but I could always buy one separately if the need arises, but not being able to read other media is a deal breaker.

They will read CD's/DCD's however i'm not certain you can burn them. However for the price, just grab a Blu-Ray drive and pick up a CD/DVD burner for $25

I have a blu-ray drive and it burns dvd/cd's without any problems. It doesn't burn on to blu-rays though.

Blu-Ray drivers can read cd/dvd discs. By the way, some gaming pc such as Acer Predator also uses blu-ray drive and most pc games are still using dvd discs. Blu-ray disc capacity are much higher, like a hard disc. Yet, there are some cd/dvd burner software that includes the function of blu-ray burning eg. Nero 7 (vista version) /8/9 series. Blu-rays are suitable for data storage uses, movies, games, and mp3 musics discs only. But not for audio discs that have same function with cd audio because Blu-rays will have the same effect as dvd audio because not all dvd players supports dvd audio.
