My computer uses DDR2 ram, does that mean that a graphics card with DDR3 ram wont work? or are the two unrelated?

Tho i would like to mention on a different note but relevant that having more ram in your GPU is important for higher resolutions like 1920X1080+

Yes, just like 1.9gb gtx 260 loses out to newer cards with just 1gb.

i had a 8800GTX 768mb and i could play any half life game at 2560x1600 with max AA and AF bt my card died and replaced it with a 9800GTX 512mb. Now i can play the same games but at 1680X1050 and medium AA AF.. So i would say a GPU with 768mb or 1GB is the way to go
