I bought memory in two different sets for my new mobo. One set was able to be set at 1600 and the other at 1333. Can I still set the one set at 1600 and leave the other at default? Or is this mobo dependant?

Thanks!

memory, in a mixed bag, will always run as fast as its slowest stick. so your 1600 stick will only run @ 1333. youd be best having 2 1600 sticks.

Yep, and with that note, it is important to hope that both sets of RAM want the same (or approximately the same) amount of voltage. The timings will also relax on whatever the faster RAM is (the 1333/1600 is not the timings, the timings are numbers that have to do with command rate and other minor latencies, not just the DDRspeed, just to give you a nugget of info).
