See, I've got this 8 gig Star Wars Episode 3 in high quality (with 1,2, 4-6 all on the way) and wanted to burn it. I expected that I'd have to use my dual layered 8.5 gig dvds (DVD-9's?) but convertxtodvd and nero can fit them on one dvd.

Convertx is set to high quality with slow encoding, and can get it down to 3 gigs, Nero naturally fills the movie into 4.7 gigs at low quality, and if set to dvd9, excellent quality at 7.94 gigs (any setting for 8.5?).

The resolution of the movie is 1920x820.

So I have a few questions

1. Is there a big gap in quality between the 3? By how much (per each quality please, thanks)?

2. How is it possible it can get to be so small, yet I have tried to put a tv series which is about 2-3 gigs, and it won't fit? Is it less to do with size, and more to do with how long the final video will be?

you will probably have to post to a specialist dvd site. does nero have an HD option???? otherwise you'll be lowering it to 720x480 NTSC or 720x576 PAL. Do you have an HD TV to play it back on?

Yes, I have an hdtv, and I did notice the new res. Damn, so that's the problem isn't it.

Any programs I can use for an hdtv?

Also I'll be using the 360 as a player. That won't be a problem without an hddvd player right? The uploader I got it from claims that you can burn into onto a dual layered disc and be able to play it.

specialist dvd authoring software such as dvd studio pro (mac) or adobe encore (now only available with premiere I think?) can do HD. To be honest I'm not sure standard dvd players can play back HD. maybe the 360 can. check for an HD option in Nero, maybe you need the latest version of nero.

Ok I'm of the opinion that the only way to do HD is with a blu-ray or HD-DVD burner and discs. I'm keen for anyone else out there to confirm or deny this. otherwise you're stuck in SD world.
