I want to talk to my buddies in party chat on XBOX LIVE which is assigned to HDMI slot 2, and play games on my PS3 which is assigned to HDMI slot 1. Will it ruin my TV to do this? Or would HDMI 2 only be active if i switch to it with my remote.

It doesn't make a difference at all. You could unplug your 360's HDMI after joining the chat party for all it mattered. It doesn't need to be active, because the only thing you'd be using is your 360 - not the TV.

I run both my 360 & PS3 at the same time it wont effect your tv. Why'd you even think this? Tvs are built with multiple inputs why wouldn't you be able to?

I thought this because I wasn't sure if it was too much power running into my TV at once, I didn't know if once I switched to HDMI 1 if HDMI 2 would shut off until I switched it back to HDMI 2 then HDMI 1 would "shut off".

It might make your room hot as hell but it wont effect the TV.
