i7 with a gtx 295 and 6 gb of ram, and i get just a slight bit of tearing in TQ and im just wondering is this most likely the monitor not refreshing fast enough, im sure this build could blow that games specs away but i think my monitor probably just isnt refreshing fast enough, that sound about right to some of you?

Have you tried toggling Vsync on and off to see if it would help? I know that with Vsync on, it would kill your framerate if your system's strong enough to render faster. But it's the only fool-proof way to get rid of tearing, short of investing in a better monitor.

Ill try it with vsync off...and if its a new monitor needed thats no biggie, im just trying to figure out if the monitor just isnt up to par with the machine i got. Its got a funky 1650x1050 res too which i dont know, just wasnt my preferred choice but i didnt think id build such amonster computer when i bought it...so i think im gonna upgrade the monitor soon anyways. But ill give it a try without vsync.

No, you should try with vsync ON to reduce/eliminate tearing.

Vsync on and you should not notice a drop in framerates as it should be refreshing fast enough that you don't notice. 1680x1050 is a standard widescreen resolution with a 16:10 aspect ratio.
