ok I got a 1080iwestinghouse 27inch lcd hdtv. my 360 works well with it, displaying at 1080i. however there's a problem when it comes to PC games. I can get my 8800gts to display my desktop at 2048 x 1536 but I can't get any game to run above 1280 x 720, which I believe is the native resolution of my TV.

what can I do? I can get my PC to do high res but PCgames won't? wth?

You can't go higher than your native resolution which is 720p and you can't use 1080i because PCs only use progressive scan.

still don't understand how my PC can run a high res but PC games won't....if PCs only recognize progressive scan then why can I set the desktop to a res higher than 1080p?

IDK how your getting 2048x1536 for your desktop and it's still showing a picture, you shouldn't be able to do that.

Most support that resolution and beyond and have been doing so for a while now.

To the OP I don't know how you are getting that resolution either, what model TV do you have ?

If your desktop is set larger than the screen itself can support, it usually means the desktop itself scrolls a little bit when you hit the corners to show the 'rest' of the desktop.

Read a little about the 27inch Westinghouse, said it accepts 1080i signals, but will scale them down to fit the native res. So maybe that isn't true 1080i resolution, which is why it can't display like that in games. Know very little about this stuff though, so could be way off.

Tell that to my flat screen CRT, that does a true 2048x1536, at 85hz no less. Will understand if you can't reply till tomorrow with that response time lag. Haha jk man.

Anyway I also found this on a 27" Westinghouse LCD:

HDTV 480p, 720p, 1080i PC 640 x 480, 800 x 600, 1024 x 768, 1280 x 720, 1360 x 768

ditto but sometimes the visual gain is worth the hardly noticable slow downs. still suggest you test it

Just in case you check this thread again, your resolution should be set to 1360x768; that is your TV's native resolution.

The only other option is 1280x720, so try that.
