I have an Asus P5K-E WIFI-AP Motherboard that supports USB 2.0. I am having trouble getting Hi-Speed transfer to work. I get message "This device can perform faster if you connect to a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Port" whenever I connect my Ipod Nano(second generation). I have Windows SP2 installed already. I have checked device manager and it says they are all "Standard" USB devices and not "Enhanced".

My Question is why can I not get USB Hi-Speed to function properly

From my own research I have made the assumption that USB 2.0 Hi-Speed will work as long as I have a USB 2.0 port. Am I wrong in this assumption or is there something else I am missing?

LOL This guy is no help at all. I am getting the same problem with my PC i know it has USB 2.0 Ports on it but i tested all my ports and every time i cannect a USB Device it gives the same message (this device can perform better if you connect it to a USB 2.0 Slot) or something similar to that.

Well sience all my ports are supposedly not USB 2.0 im going to install a USB 2.0 hi-speed Add in card Link I have had this for 3 years or so and never needed to install it so i suppos its time now. The weird thing is mine is old and its V3 and the one on newegg is V1 so i suppos they will send you a newer one than what i have.

You need to install the chipset drivers specific for your motherboard.

well im connecting it directly to my rear ports. The USB 2.0 "drivers" that came with the motherboard is just a text document telling me to download Windows SP1 or later as they already have the drivers. Also am I wrong to assume that USB 2.0 automatically gives me Hi-Speed Support?

By the way, in the bios, there is an option to set USB 2.0 as high as Hi-Speed.

Standard drivers will only recognize standard USB speeds. You need specific drivers for your mobo, not those delivered with Windows. Download them here (chipset & select your OS):
