all right, i bought a 50" samsung dlp projection hdtv a month ago (model HLS5087W) and have been playing my xbox 360 via component cables. i was considering buying the vga cables to see if there is any difference. i just wanted to know if anybody else has a samsung dlp tv and if they have tried the vga cables with it, and does it look any better / worse on this tv? thanks in advance for the info

p.s.  the tv is the 1080p model, and accepts 1080p signals through both the component and vga connections.

Awesome looking tv(i have a samsung dlp also). Although it isn't the best for gaming(a really slight lagin frame rate even with game mode on). And the vga cables will make it look better. Don't expect any mind blowing difference though because most games havn't pushed that boundary yet.

I have that same TV but the 56" version.  You don't need VGA cables to get the full benefit.  Component will pass 1080p signals from games.  The only benefit VGA will give you is upscaling DVD capability.

First off, leave game mode off, all that does is degrade the picture..does nothing to help....what lag are you talking about?...DLP is lightning fast compared to LCD and plasma so you should be experiencing no lag.

VGA offers a sharper picture, though as the above guy said, nothing mind blowing...the upscaling ability on DVD is nice tough.
