I want to know if the computer automatically splits work among all four cores in a quad core. I don't necessarily mean programs that were designed to utilize four cores. I mean if I open up WMP, Nero, Photoshop, and Firefox on my computer does each application automatically gets assigned a core or do they all end up sharing one core unless I tell the computer to assign each to a core?
Your computer will automatically assign tasks to each one, assuming you're using Windows XP or later. It's not always exact, but it's a good enough job that you shouldn't need to tweak it.
