I have a ATI Radeon X1600 Pro with 512MB 8xAGP. I want to upgrade my card, but I am not sure which one I need to buy. I tried looking online for cards with the same specifications, but there are many manufacturers and all with different prices. I was also wondering if anyone could tell me about the HD graphics cards, are they better than the one I currently have? I am looking at the price range of 100-200 dollars. I don't really care if the card has any crossfire capabilities, but I am interested in cards that have Direct X10 capabilities.

Thanks.

That card is 3 generations behind of current gen gpu's.

----

On ATI

generation 11: X1000 gen pro, xt

generation 12: HD2000 pro, xt (naming changed)

generation 13: HD3000 50, 70 (naming changed)

generation 14: HD4000 gen

----

Going to a HD4670 or a geforce 9600gt will be a huge upgrade in performance, but you have an AGP system so that means upgrading the motherboard and even probably suffering a huge bottleneck on performance because of the other components.

There is almost no merit in cross firing your card. Just spend around $100 or $200 on a 4850 or 4870 and you will see a HUGE difference in GPU performance if your CPU doesn't bottleneck it. What is your CPU btw?

You can't crossfire with agp.The best you are going to get is a 3850 agp.I just put 1 in my rig a couple of weeks ago to replace my aging 6800gt,and I must say it is an impressive card.Just make sure you can feed it with a good power supply.

You have a bigger problem with your mobo. does it have pci e x16 slot? coz if it doesn't, id advise upgrading the mobo, ram and cpu aswell. Since you are probably on a tight budget, buy em second hand.
