Hi everyone, my 1st question is: I am buying a new psu for my dell 8400, what do I need to know when installing it (like what wires to put where etc)

Second question is: I am hoping in the future to upgrade my RAM to 2 gigabytes, I buy two 512mb ram sticks called ballistick will this affect the stock (1gb) of ram in my computer negatively or will it increase performance? I was just wondering if it would be better to just install the same type of ram and take out the stock I am currently using?

Thanks all, sorry if the second question was a bit confusing, its kinda hard to put down in words.

:)

Ok after you buy youre power supply *make shure it aint a chepo one* get it and before you install it look at where all the wires go on youre old one so you know where to attach them with the new one. as for youre ram you will be fine Just be shure you buy the right type of ram.

The psu if going to be bought off amazon and is from www.pcpower.com . They say it is dell certified and I have checked compatability and it is compatible with my model dell the dimension 8400. So I dont think I will be needing to call dell. As for ram I use the crucial ram site because it scans your computer and tells you what is compatible by bringing up the list of products ( clever eh?:P) Oh and one more thing...could my BIOS get locked by upgrading? :S

Thanks

Not sure I'd trust a man that can't spell but how much should you spend on a PSU to make sure it isn't a cheap one? Cheap being a bit of an ambiguous term.

you don't need ballistix ram, thats higher quality ram generally bought for those intending on overclocking/pushing the comp to the edge. Just take down the info that read out gave you and go to newegg and get cheaper crucial ram.

Well i was trying to get ram that wasnt unbuffered because I was told that unbuffered is slower so I went for a more expensive ballistix but that isnt unbuffered either.I might get the cheap ram but it does seem a little too cheap..its like £13 for a gig o.0

Thanks guys for the advice :)
