I'm planning on getting a new monitor that has a native resolution of ->
1650x1050
2 years ago... A LOT OF GAMES didn't support this resolution. Do games these days support this res? Any help would be greatly appreciated (Before I go out and get this native res)
I have a monitor that has 1680 x 1050 for its native resolution and i only once in a while have problems with a game not supporting it (older games) but i wouldnt go back at all now :P
With older games: There's sometimes a way to use 16:10 resolutions in 3D titles even if it doesn't support such resolutions from within the game menu itself... meaning you'll have to get down and dirty with the game's config files. That's usually not too difficult, but certain older games, ESPECIALLY older 2D titles (Diablo, Starcraft), will absolutely not support 16:10 resolutions.
You can still play such games with resolution scaling, though. Both your monitor and graphics processor will support resolution scaling in some form. GPU scaling is usually the best way to go, I personally use "nVidia scaling with fixed aspect ratio" for the best image quality (the image isn't stretched -- instead, you get black bars on the sides of the screen with a 4:3 resolution. Might bother some people, though.)
