Just a quick question. I played Guild Wars when it came out, but I stopped 'cause my friend stopped (and I just got distracted and never picked it up again). I'm looking for a game as of recent to put some time into, to mess around with (because quite frankly I couldn't be more bored with Call of Duty 4, lawl).

Just looking for a game to mess around with a friend or two in. SO basically, here's how it goes:

I bought the first Guild Wars, prophecies.
I have Factions, but that is on a separate account (it was a friend's, but he didn't care for it so I took it off his hands).

I've been told to buy either Nightfall or Eye of the North IF I had Prophecies (I think, can't be sure).

I took the game to level 20 on Factions (where ironically I didn't on Prophecies, I honestly don't know why), but I didn't really totally care for Factions. I remember having more fun in Prophecies.

So if I were to buy another addition, what should I be purchasing? Nightfall or Eye of the North? Thanks : )

Nightfall is longer, larger and has two new professions.
Eye of the North has better dungeons, quests and loot, but the main quest is a bit disappointing.

EotN probably fits in with the games you already own better than Nightfall does, and more people seem to be playing EotN, but I found it to be slightly disappointing, so I'd pick Nightfall.

Well EotN is a full expansion, meaning you already need to have an account with one of the other games. Nightfall is like Factions where you don't have to have to other games to play, but if you do you can go between the games. If you enjoyed Prophecies you might like EotN.

nightfall-reason, because you get 2 more professions (dervish and Paragon). Dervish absolutely pwn in PvP with the right build. Although so far in the nightfall campaign i have found it to be quite repatative in the way that it sort of feels the sameish.

Eye of the north doesnt have extra professions, campaign wise im unsure-havent played the campaign so its difficult for me to advise you on this. The reason i bought nightfall over eotn is because im an avid PvP player and the extra professions especially dervish were a bonus to the game.

One last thing eotn expands on the the original guild wars prophecies so as far as i know its just extra content added to the prophecies campaign.

Hope this helped :P

NightFall is your best bet, and GW:EN if you want more later.

I would get EotN if you liked prophecies. EotN has more endgame content (ALOT MORE), more people play it. Nightfall has a longer campaign, but that's all there really is to it.

Okay I've thought of a question as of recent:

Factions. I played that to 20 and had the absolute worst time trying to level up PvE wise. I asked my guildie-mates about this, why I was having so much difficulty, and they said the same for themselves. They explained to me that Factions was 'by far' the hardest of all the Guild Wars games PvE-wise.

Is this true? I honestly have no real interest in difficulty when it comes to PvE. Me and my friend are just looking for a game to lay back and chill on. I've always believed that the real challenge relies in PvP. Obviously, I don't want the PvE aspect to be completely challengeless (including hunting for gear), I just don't want it to be absolutely near impossible like it is in World of Warcraft. Believe me when I say I used to have that type of dedication. I don't anymore, heh.

So yes, anyway, again my question is: How difficult is the PvE aspect of Nightfall and/or Eye of the North? Thanks!

Thats really strange, I found Factions MUCH easyer to level in pve then prof or NF, but much less enjoyable. Factions seemed more pvp orented to me then the others.

Well I can confirm that, I had a MUCH EASIER TIME in Prophecies than Factions. I had an absolute HORRIBLE TIME in Factions trying to level up, for some reason.

I also noticed that I didn't have nearly as many skills available to me (or the ones that I liked) like I did in Prophecies. Like the skill Ignite Arrows for Rangers. Having that and Frenzy was almost crucial to what I wanted to do when I made a Ranger. To my surprise, I never got Ignite Arrows and it's ONLY AVAILABLE in Prophecies. : /

Guild Wars Learning Curve: From Easiest to Hardest.

1 - Prophecies (If you prefer PvP, I'd suggest you get this one)

2 - Nightfall (Heroes are a nice touch in my opinion)

3 - Factions (Ironically this is the easiest campaign to level up in, but it's also the toughest campaign)

Factions wasn't too bad, but I do remember SHIRO be a major PITA though. :)

I've only beaten him once... twice techincally if you count the
Nightfall Mission
even though I was afk for that fight... It sucks now that I had to wipe my harddrive and I think I have a memory problem. I lag for an ungodly amount of time. Every time I go home if I want to play GW and have any fun at all, I'll try to faction farm.

Sounds pretty cool. I guess I may end up getting both Nightfall and Eye of the North eventually but I can only afford one at the moment.

And yeah I can confirm that it's the easiest to level up in Factions, but I still thought the mobs and enemies in PvE were WAY HARDER to kill than in Prophecies. On my warrior in prophecies, I can take on a great number of charr about my same level without dying.

In Factions it seems like 4-5 enemies are too much for me. I DO play an assassin, so I can't take too many hits, but still.

An assasin is designed to teleport in, do 1 combo and then leave.

I own Nightfall, and I am really disappointed with the scenery and landscape. It's too boring. It might be just preference, but I would enjoy a frozen tundra much more.

I will agree with you on that, I did find individual fights in factions to be much more challenging then the other two by far. Beating Shiro (the hard way) was awful.
