I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to technical specs and what to look for. But I know if I want to play a PS3 on a monitor it needs to be HDCP. With that being said I came up with this one.

If any of you have/are using a monitor how does it look. I've heard sometimes the picture will stretch. Will this be the case on the one listed? What size/resolution is recommened. I know i'd like atleast 20 in'. But as far a resolution im clueless.

I don't see the monitor you're trying to list? Can't say much here other than: - Get a decent Brand (samsung, dell, gateway, lg, and benq all seem ok..., opinions vary :)) - look for 8ms or less response time - Contrast better than or equal to 800:1 - Make sure it's a widescreen monitor - HDCP is required for movies - not games, but it's good to have so you might as well - If you want 1080p you have to get up to 24", but these are almost 2x the price of a 22" so I would pass for now - resolution will be 1440:990 or better, 1650:1050 I think is what you'll be looking at...

There it is. I was having trouble with the link. What resolution do I need for the image not to stretch?

I'm not too familiar with running hdmi to a monitor. Basically all computer monitors are 16:10, and ps3 outputs at 16:9, so you would expect black bars at the top and bottom of the picture. Hopefully someone else can chime and mention whether or not it does just that.

Hows the specs on this one? It has an HDMI port so I wouldn't need to use a converter. But as far as contrast ratio and response time how is it?

honestly theres too many variables to tell u how well each monitor is, including how ps3 reacts to 16:10. i know my 16:10 monitor causes vertical stretching for my 360, but at the same time its only a 1440x900. 22s might handle 16:9 differently, considering theyre big enough to handle 1080. plus, my monitors only $200-250; nicer monitors can handle things differently, such as displaying with automatic bars on top and bottom thru the monitor itself. it all depends.

You are not an expert on the subject apparently. 22"s are 1680x1050, which is much smaller than 1920x1080 of 1080p. Only 24"s (and Apple's 23) have a high enough resolution for 1080p. The black bars feature you're referring to is 1:1 pixel mapping or aspect display mode. I covered a lot of that here:

ok, i've done alot of searching. and theres alot of variables in buying a monitor for use with the PS3. Like does the monitor have to be HDCP compliant for me to play games. i could care less about watching movies. Also will i be able to just connect the PS3 straight to the monitor no computer?

If some one could just point me out at a monitor that I can use with my PS3, worry free, garaunteed to work, no stretching, 720p at the minimum that'd be soooo much easier.

You didn't read the link in my post, did you? It has to be HDCP compliant even for games. You're also connecting directly to the monitor, so a computer isn't involved unless you use it for sound. You can also not use a computer for sound, there're other ways, explained in the link.

The Dell 2007WFP has DVI-D that's HDCP compliant, greater resolution than 720p, has 1:1 pixel mapping, and is a great monitor. The no stretching requirement limits your options a lot.
