Yes I am.Providing iam not missing some information here like you getting them really cheap or something 2 ATI 4870's would perform MUCH better and cost less.
No offense when I say this but this topic isn't about which graphics cards I should use, its about which CPU's I should use. You're giving advice to a guy who doesn't take advice. OK, i just didnt know if you realised you would be getting outdated,expensive,badly-supported, hot & power hungry hardware. I wont say another word!
BTW, i suggest just getting the cheapest of them CPU's and just overclocking it, might aswel save money.
Out-dated? The 9800GX2 came out in March, plus it performs better than almost all of the 9 series cards. I'm VERY well aware that GX2's range from $400 - $500 a piece and that isn't an issue for me... And how do you get on that it's badly supported, please describe in detail on what you mean by that. I'm also aware that they generate heat quickly but I'll have liquid cooling to keep it from over-heating. Jesus christ, ATi makes ONE card that's better than Nvidia and everyone jumps ship and hails the 4870 god... I know that it performs better than the GX2 but not as much as you claim. I've had difficulties with ATi cards in the past enough to not want to purchase an ATi card ever again. I'm sticking with Nvidia cuz of the fact they've never let me down.Wow i really hope you dont have a bad experiance with NVidia because they you wont buy any graphics card from either company ever again. When i said it was badly supported i was referring to the 4 GPU's and how they dont actually give any advantage seeing as hardly and games support more that 2 GPU's at the moment.
And actually people are not "jumping ship to praise the 4870 god", some people like to THINK and not make allegiances to a company that doesnt give a **** about them, if i recommend a ATI one day then NVidia another iam free to do that because believe it or not iam not a fanboy, yes thats right i like to judge every card separately irrelevant of who makes it.
Anyway whatever dude, iam sure you worked hard for that money so enjoy your purchase.
Dude I told you not to take offense in my post but you did anyway... I'm not going for ATi, and if you're against the GX2 set up, what would you prefer to choose to have SLi?If your really set on nvidia, the best choice right now is probably 260 gtx sli. Or if you have the money, 280 gtx sli. Myself, I have 2 4870 in CF and i love it
