I opened up my computer yesterday and it was pretty dusty. Would it be alright to clean it with a dust remover? Or could it potentially damage something? Just making sure, thanks.

Also, my fans have been kind of loud lately. Could this be because of the dust?

UPDATE: Thanks for the advice, the can of compressed air and vacuum worked very well. Now it's a lot cleaner and the fans aren't being as loud either.

Use a vacuum cleaner and a can of compressed air should do the trick.

Use canned air and a vaccum cleaner like the other person mentioned.

The liquid inside a can of compressed air IS conductive though so DO NOT turn the can upside down and spray moisture all over the computer's guts. Also DO NOT do this while its on.

You want to break up the dust and then immediately suck it out of the case with the vaccum. If its caked on you might need to clean stuff like the fan blades with a q-tip.

If you want to be super safe about it. Power down, unplug the computer and then press the power switch to discharge any latent voltage.

Then you can spray without fear of ruining anything. If you accidently squirt moisture on anything just allow an hour or so to dry.

When cleaning the fans tho, hold it so the fan it's self doesn't spin.
