I got a HDTV cable box yesterday. It came with component cables. I used the HDMI cable from my PS3 and it looks 10 times better. Am I missing something or are HDMI cables better than Component?

hdmi cost $10-$20 and make a huge difference. Yes, they're digital. More importantly, they have very high bandwidth and are layered for protection against signal loss.

What type of set is it? Newer like LCD/Plasma? Or older like rear view projection/DLP?
Check out Monoprice.com for HDMI cables. You won't believe the prices and they have quality stuff. I have ordered lots of stuff from there to include HDMI cables. Buy the 1.3a and you don't need the more expensive ones unless you are running them long distances or in walls. These are the ones that I use. http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&cs_id=1024008&p_id=4027&seq=1&format=2 I have a 46" Sony Bravia HD LCD. I have used the expensive Monster brand cables and these and I can't tell the difference. If you can, then spend the big bucks. Good luck.Wired4Speed
the truth is with HDMI, no one can tell the difference between a $5 cable and monster ones. there isnt a difference in signal strength because there isnt an issue with signal loss in HDMI. Its a digital signal, so its there, or its not. With analog cables like component it can make a difference with a higher end cable, but with HDMI the only difference is the money left in your wallet.
