Quick question. PATA + SATA II?

Im about to purchase a Hitachi 250gb SATA II HDD to go with my current 40gb PATA one[cant rember make or model]. Do the two work together as i think they do or will there be any other overheads im over looking.

I would have the current hard drive as a slave and make the faster Hitachi my primary, so you get maximum performance.

Thanks for the quick reply. Speed is not an issue and also i really dont want to re install XP now. So i can just buy it and plug it in and get it workin with no hassle right?

Oh yeah. Just plug a SATA cable and power into it, and it will detect it as a slave storage drive in windows xp.
