"GeForce 8800 GT is the perfect card for gamers that want to play Crysis," said Cevat Yerli, CEO of Crytek. "By bringing such high performance to the sub-$250 price segment, NVIDIA is allowing even more gamers to experience the full range of Crysis's stunning visual effects at maxed-out resolutions."

Ilaughed at Yerli's comment when even the 8800 gtx's have trouble playing the game.

actually if you SLI'ed two of the GT's, you could easily beat the GTX but still get the same price. I was looking at benchmarks on Tom's hardware and it was making me sick that i paid $500 for the GTX when these $230 cards perform only about 5% worse. If you spent $460 + $40 extra (extra to an average non-sli motherboard) for a SLI mobo, you could easily play everything on very high.

Actually, the 8800GT is pretty darn close to the GTX, its 10-15% faster than the 8800GTS, which is amazing considering its price range!

Depends on the resolution. The 512MB is a limiting factor for resolutions > 1920x1200 (actually it should be resolution, given there is only 2560x1600). They ran a mini-review of the card over at HardOCP and it showed just a marginal improvement over the GTX and sub-Ultra performance running 2 GT's in SLI @ 2560x1600. So it depends on what you're trying to power. They used the Crysis demo and UT3 for this test. Still a fantastic deal for the performance and 99.999% (give or take a few more nines) won't ever hit the memory limitation.

I remember when he said the e6600 and a 8800GTS 640mb would run Crysis ultra high. I've learned to ignore any promises this guy makes.

Step-up doesn't apply to pre-built systems...

If you REALLY read between the lines you can see where he says "Virtually nobody could afford to play Crysis before this card was launched. If it hadn't been for Nvidia launching this card, we would have gotten unlimited flak from critics. They really saved our butts on this one."

I have an 8800gtx and I can't max Crysis...luckily the GT will do nearly the exact same thing but for half the price. Congratz to those who could wait ;)

I still havent decided if the 8800GT has such high performance just because its PCI-E 2.0... any benchmarks using a PCIE1.1 mobo?

Don't do it on carpet (get plastic to protect from static). Turn off computer lol. Make sure you send in all your wires, cds, etc that came with GPU or they can deduct from the price.

I was wondering this too, because right now I can't afford a new mobo/processor. I'm running on an old A8N-SLI Deluxe, and I'm wondering if this would be a worthy upgrade from my 7900GS.

The crysis demo benchmarks on tweaktown.com has a Asus Blitz Extreme mobo, which I think isn't 2.0. I've checked every website and it doesn't say 1.0, but it doesnt say 2.0 either so I just assumed it was 1.0. Either way the 8800GT still outperformed my pathetic 320mb, but the 640mb was able to hold its own with some minor overclocking.

and this is why im thinking of upgrading to the superclocked 8800GT 512mb, it seems to put my virtually new 8800gts 320mb to shame

Wasn't this the guy who also said Crysis would run great on a quad core?

This guy has zero credibility.

Not on Quad, dual core Im pretty sure he said. I love how they (crytek) said if you can run farcry max to shouldnt have a problem playing Crysis. Well I can max farcry and its looks alot better than crysis on low withits poor 15-40 fps range

Lmfao, wow...this guy never stops, maxed out reses my ass, I am having trouble running the damn game, yet he still claims that a GT would be perfect. Maybe for running it on Medium on a 1280 by 1024 res, but other than that, its BS.

I'm in the same boat. I just bought a 7900GS 6 months ago. I'll probably get an 8800GT in a while. I was pleasantly surprised with how my rig ran the Crysis demo. I might actually be able to get by without DX10 for a bit.

I thought he said a E6600+ 7800GTX can play the game on High details. That was a year ago. Then he said Q6600 + 8800gts can play the game on High details. And now its having 40 fps on the 8800 on medium details. High is 20 fps.

He either was lying or the demois optimized by a retard

Medium looks pretty bad so and I wouldn't blame the hardware, but rather the game itself. UTIII is getting over 100 fps locked on a system like that :|
