What is the recommended idle and load temperature of the 8800GTX, without causing any damage to the card? The reason being, I'm thinking of getting an 8800GTX. Thanks.

Recommended idle = 72C+
Recommended load = 85C+

Try not to let the 8800GTX reach over 100C.

The 8800 series cards run very hot, but they're designed to do so. My 8800 GTS 320 SC runs between 55-60c idle, and around 72c under load.

correct, my 8800gts320 runs around 50-55 idle and up to 70 under load, not at all surprissing that the GTX runs alot warmer, more memory, more shaders, and memory and core are clocked higher. but as said above, try to keep the card under 95-100, the thermal design of the cards i believe their overheat temp is around 122.

Err dude... thats the recommended temp. Whiche means to either stay under or not go over them.

Both my 8800GTX on SLI idle is only 64C and load touches 76c.

yeah, when i had one GTX it idled at about 60c when the direct fan control was on manual and turned to 100% the whole time. i also sat another fan on top of the card directly over where the core lies. helped quite a bit, managed to get it idling around 58c.

as for SLI, now they sometimes idle at like 70c, after load one of them hit 90c. the GTX cards run VERY hot, mostly coz unlike ATI, they dont force all their air out the back of the case, the hot air gets pushed down and out of the card, into the case. so my bottom SLI card runs about 6-7c hotter than the top one.
