I sorta thought that the first and second Fallout sucked. Not into the whole turn-based gameplay.

Whaaaa?![QUOTE="BounceDK"]I'm quite skeptical of their abilities to make an awesome Fallout game over at Bethesda. After playing Oblivion I won't get my hopes up.zaibutzu
Huh. Wasn't that an AAA game? What are you talking about?
Oblivion sucks. That's what I'm talking about.I have a sneaking suspicion that this game is going to stink. Yes, the console freaks will love it and the PR-inspired, so-called professional reviewers will probably flog themselves into a state of euphoria singing the praises of this game. That still won't change what seems, from what I've read, to be the dumbing down of another a beloved franchise to please the bean-counters, suits, and the PlayStation Generation.
This game will be Fallout in name only. Yes, I'll admit that I loved the original 2 Fallout games but, then, I don't suffer from ADHD so strategic, turn-based combat is something I actually enjoy.
Why Bethesda insists on calling this dreck Fallout 3 is beyond me.

Probably, with the one post thing, I never played Fallout but I know that its a great series and Bethesda is probably going to destroy it

You're a very bitter gamer.
Here's my take: Fallout 1 and 2 are legendary games in my book. They're the only games out there, that I know of, that had the balls to confront some of the subject matter that they did. Not only were they unapologetically up-front with mature content, the ability you had to role-play your character was, and still is, unprecedented. I can honestly tell you, with the sole exception of perhaps Torment, that FO1 and FO2 are the best role-playing games in terms of actual role-playing. The amount of choice you had in conversations and your ability to influence the world around you make it one of my favorite games of all time.
That said, I'm partly glad and partly angry to see what Bethsoft is cooking up. On one hand, I'm glad to see someone is resurrecting the game franchise and bringing it to new heights as far as technology is concerned. However, I'm not very happy to see the amount of "creative license" that they're taking with the game. Changing it from turned-based to real-time doesn't bother me in the least. Infact, I'm glad they changed it. Turn based was appropriate ten years ago, but now-a-days I'm interested in taking more direct control of my character's actions and movements.
My biggest concern is whether or not Bethsoft will preserve the elements of FO1&2 that really made the game great for me: setting, story, character interaction, role-playing, dark content, and over-all atmosphere. If they can get those things right, I'll be happy.
