RAAAIIIIDD????

Well, been reading some about RAID.

I had planned on using a separate HD 250gb to run my os. Then I have 3 other drives 2 external and 1 internal to save games and other media. (total of 2 terabytes) . But I am a bit confused about RAID.

What are the real world advantages? If I am already using a separate HD for the OS and have a external backup of everything already?

Thanks guys as usual.

Xipo

Also if you think RAID is the way, any sites that can help me understand it better and how to set it up?

BTW i had my OS on my 500GB and just games on the raptors, but now my games are on the 500GB and my back up, music and other stuff are on my 750GB

i think you can only do Raptors in RAID 0 and there a little faster loading games but honesly there isnt Raptors are just exxpensive and not that entirly usefull

and do you know what RAID 0 is?? there are different types of RAID

but if you dont ill just sayit here, RAID 0 is when 2 HDD (probably only Raptors but im not sure) are recognised as ONE HDD and not TWO seperate ones, so 2x150GB Raptors in RAID 0 will be 300GB alltogether and the computer recognises it taht way

thats basically it

Yeah I knew that much, but really did not seem like much of an advantage. Just splits and duplicates data on the both drives. Strange idea, seems to be a waste unless there is a large performance difference
