Hi,

of the racing games you know, which one had the longest tracks?

I want to exclude fantasy or sci-fi racers from the list because it's hard to meassure them against real racing games if you drive or hover at 800mp/h, and I want to exclude "racing games" that just have a vehicle in the middle and you can only move it from left to right and you have to drive down a generated track with randomly placed obstacles or "corners"

I am searching for a racing game with moderately realistic driving physics (not a priority) that have tracks that give me the feeling I am driving on a real road and not just hurrying around a track. That's one of the reasons why I prefer Rallye games over closed-track racing games. It's not the only reason but I am a fan of different landscapes.

So please, don't try to find loop-holes in the question and appear extra smart by naming a SNES game with infititely long randomly-generated tracks or a game where the player has to fly through the galaxy. I know those would be the longest tracks ever but it's absolutely not what I am searching for. Also don't tell me that's a strange criteria when searching for a good racing game. I don't care. If I want to play a good racing game I'll pop one in. I have enough good racing games that I love. I realize it's kind of a strange request but I think it makes for an interesting topic (and I want such a game ;) ).

Only list some 3d racing games set in the real world of which you think they had very long tracks with beautiful landscapes.

The technical quality of the graphics doesn't really matter to me as long as I like the art style so feel free to list old games as well.

Thanks in advance

Buy GTR Evolution. Real tracks, Some up to 15 miles long ( yes, there is a real track that is 15 miles long) and it is only 19 dollars and was just recently released. Awesome graphics, great physics.

Thanks for the suggestions! You couldn't know that but I'm not really a fan of the Need for Speed series anymore. Most Wanted seemed like bit of a fun spike among the other titles though so I'm compelled to get it someday. I didn't know it was renowned for track-length though. How long is the average track and how long the longest?

GTR Evolution seems like a great game but at the moment I'm only interested in long romantic roads. I agree the nordschleife is impressively long (I've played a version of it in Forza: Motorsports) but it being a circuit track and the other tracks in GTRE being circuit tracks too it's simply not what I am looking for at the moment. Thank you for your time though!

The thing is that it is a completely open world, the town of Rockport is open for exploration. When you are just cruising, or being chased by the cops, the entire game world is open to you.

At least you can have some fun in the world now with cops and all. The city in NFSU2 was rather pointless. Fun at first, but more in terms of site-seeing.

I know that one. In my opinion it's boring to just compete against your own times (opinions defer) but if you race with someone who is just as good as you or slightly better it's a real blast. On the last Lan I've been to (four or five people) we played this all night. I can definately recommend the game to anyone who reads this here, but at the moment this is not at all what I am searching in this topic.

Let me rephrase my request:

I want a game that features long roads through beautiful and romantic landscapes and allows the player to travel on them in anything that is slower than a ferrari.

Even if it's something "weird" like motorcycles or trucks.

An example for such a game would be "Mercedes Benz World Racing". As a racing game the game fails but it has some great tracks in huge valleys. I am searching for something like that. The game's qualities as a racing game are not a priority! If it's good it's all the better of course, but the best gameplay on the market can't make up for the lack of long romantic roads.

Grand Prix Legends,

which is an very old game by today's standards has some of the really old classic tracks of the past like the original 14 mile long Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany.

This game has a huge following of user created tracks, cars etc

I know what you mean. Only one title comes ot mind - original Need For Speed.
Game featured long scenic tracks with very distinct personalities and memorable moments.
I was looking for more recent alternative to NFS and there's nothing on market now.

Right now people are interested in short, thrill-filled racing games. I miss the days of NFO and
Road Rash. I must say Pure looks very good though, tracks are amazing.

Oh, it does meet the criteria but I already have it and the landscapes aren't that hot unfortunately. The city scapes are great but the other environments are lacking. The desert parts are good but the woodland areas just don't look real. Good suggestion though, thank you!

Test Drive Unlimited sounds like a game I would like to play but I don't think my 6600GT can run it adequately.

I can't remember whether it was NFS: HS2 or Burnout 1 or 3, but one of those games linked 3 sprint tracks together. It took over 15 min to complete. I think it was one of the Burnouts. The Le Mans on Grid can be pretty long too, granted it is a circuit.
