460 is a bit faster. 6850 uses less power, though, if you need something to justify your purchase...

They're very similar performance - both are good choices.

I just bought my girlfriend at GTX 560 Ti for $160. For her "starting to game" present. :) Of course that was a one time deal I spotted and grabbed very quick. You can find some 6870's around that price range and some below $150 if it has some specials going on.

If you know how to overclock well, a 460 GTX 1 GB will trade blows with a 6870. Otherwise they are similar cards, can't go wrong with either.

as i said the my price was about 150 . i got my about 10 days ago for a total of 160 including tax . that was 10 dollars , free shipping ! did a bit of research to on tomshardware it was listed as the best ,

now i was just cheaking new egg at random and came upon a Evga GTX 460 was about 139.99 additonal the tax and 7.99 shipping ( would be a total 159 ). That made me think did i buy it to early or should have waited ................?????????!!!!!!!!!!?????

which was the better option as i had heard that both have almost similar performance but the GTX 460 performance is little better

A GTX 460 may be a bit faster clock for clock but it can't run on $40 PSUs.

Both are great choices for under $150. Dont worry you made a good choice GTX460 indeed is slightly faster but on the other hand 6850 consumes much less power Either choice is a good one
