with my rig (specs at bottom of this post) which would be better? Radeon X1950 XTX or Radeon X1950 pro?  also, is this too much card for my system?

The X1950 Pro should be enough.

Well, you probably don't want to spend too much on a DX9 video card, now that we're slowly moving into the DX10 generation, especially with that CPU. I would go with the X1950 Pro.

I second that. Don't sink too much into yesterday's technology. Just spend enough to get by for now, and save for the future. (DX10)
