What do you all think about this game? Will it be worth the $60? They haven't released much info about the multiplayer and there isn't even info on if it has character customization. So far it seems like a Borderland repeat. It has the rpg storyline and collecting items with fps action.

Doesn't matter. It's a game jam packed with content, so I don't care.

I can almost guarantee it will be...also I don't see what the big deal in paying ten dollars more is. With the inflation we've been having I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner.

I am SO damn sick of people crying about game prices. I'm no old man, but I'm a guy who got an NES for his fifth Christmas (had a 2600 before that, but was too young to remember much), a Genesis later, then a PSX, followed by a PS2, a 360, and now I own a decent gaming laptop. I've seen the change of price over the years, and you know what? Comparatively speaking, games are SOOOO much cheaper than they used to be. Oh sure, they're $60 now when a bunch were $50 a bit ago, but games were never that cheap to begin with. When I got my Sega, games were around $50-60. Virtua Racer (Genesis) was $100, and I -believe- Chrono Trigger was as well. And this was in the early 1990s when gas cost less than a buck a gallon. Buying a game then was an INVESTMENT. Do the conversion and a $60 game is the equivalent of a $90 game. In roughly TWENTY-FIVE years, the price of video games (not counting giant "special edition" packages) hasn't changed significantly at ALL. It's sat in the $40-60 range since console gaming first landed. These days, dropping sixty bucks on a game stings a little, but it doesn't kill you. I bought like FOUR in the past week and I don't exactly make a ton of money. Not only that, but think about selection! Back in the "dinosaur" days, ALL there was was Sega, SNES, Game Boy, and a tiny handful of PC games for all intents and purposes. You were gonna blow two days worth of wages on a game if you wanted to play ANYTHING. Today you can snag Magicka or a Popcap PC game for $10 or less, hop on XBL or the PSN and get some cheapie games, or if you have an iPhone or Android get some sweet-ass games for FREE. It has NEVER been more inexpensive to be a gamer. And don't talk to me about consoles. The Playstation cost $400 upon release in 1995 ($560 in today's dollars), and the friggin' 3D0 was $799(!!!!). Even CONSOLES aren't getting more expensive. The Wii was, what, $199 upon release? Not to mention the money we're saving on things like memory cards thanks to hard drives in consoles! So stop pissing and moaning. You have it so damn good you don't even realize. Butch out.

Hell, they dont even make a pc version, they port it later. Thats the reason they come out later or dont have demos. Anyway, seriously? Bethesda is going for 60 bucks thingy too? Normally i dont whine about that stuff, but if every game i want is 60 bucks, and mind you, i want alot this year, then i wil have to spend 10 more bucks than i used to in every game i want. So that means that i will spent enough 10s to build up another 50 bucks for another game. So instead of buying 7 games with 50 bucks each, i will have to buy 6 games with 60 bucks each. Damn, there are too many good games coming out and those are hard times to spend money. Game companies aint increasing the sales by increasing the price at times like these.

Why does this game need multiplayer to begin with who cares..Im a big supporter of single player games..Im hopeful for just a single player game chopped full of goodness..Give me a grand theft auto type game and ill be happy..Open world shooter in spqace type of game..Hell half the time the only games i play online any how are mmorpgs..My other games i prefer to be single player base..Heck even crysis 2 ill only play the single player games..Hate cod type games..Do you cry when we have elder scrolls games with no multiplayer, the answere is no..

Rage will be good enough with out it and ill enjoy every minute..Besides that 60 is nothing for a game..Its not going to change..In fact prices will go up eventually..Hell look at gas.How come no one complains about the gas price going up steady..It went from 160 to 319 an yet no one cares..How about cigerretes 8 bucks a box wow..Yet people still smoke..If a game goes to 65 to 70 no maybe than the masses will cry foul an yet..Some how i dont see people crying over 70 bucks either..Maybe they will only the future will tell..

PC games have ALWAYS been cheaper than console games, even if you go back in time to the 80's computer games were cheaper than console games. This is down to two factors, firstly in the 80's 90's console games came on expensive cartridges but PC games were sold on inexpensive floppy discs. The second issue is the console royalty fee every game sold on the console sees between $7-$10 going straight to the manufacturer of the console. The PC does not have a royalty fee so why the hell should we be paying console prices ?

I have no problem with paying $60 for a PC game if costs have increased that much, but only if at the same time console games are $70 and yet they aren't ....... hm wonder why ? Bringing PC game prices up to match console game pricing is profiteering in my books and I won't have anything to do with it. If RAGE is $60 on launch then I will wait till it becomes considerably cheaper and the longer I have to wait the cheaper I expect it to get till eventually I end up buying it when it is $5 in a steam sale.

Do you realize the budget of PC games now? Mass Effect cost about $15mil to make, CoD:MW2 cost $40-50mil to develop and nearly $200mil to launch. How much do you think it cost to make Dragon's Lair or the original Civilization? If anything, we should be damn happy that the cost has equalized amongst the various platforms. PC gaming hasn't always had the focus it does now. I remember ages ago when pretty much all there was to do on a PC was Doom or an RTS. The reason they were cheaper then is that the games just weren't on the level of the consoles. Sorry, but they weren't. These days, PCs and consoles all get the same stuff. They're all games on CD developed for a given platform. There's no reason for them to cost any differently.

No it didn't cost $40/50 million to make and $200 million to launch COD on the PC. It took that to launch the game on ALL three platforms yet when console gamers buy COD BO they are only paying $50 for the game and the extra $10 goes straight into Sony/MS's pocket. However PC gamers pay $60 for the game because there are NO CONSOLE ROYALTIES on the PC.

I have been a PC gamer for 20 years and I am going "WTF" at what you are saying. If anything we had a massively better selection years ago than we have now and at a cheaper price than the crap that gets churned out these days. As for being happy that our costs have INCREASED to match console pricing (when there are clearly EXTRA costs involved in the console version) erm yeah ok.

The reason they were cheaper then is that the games just weren't on the level of the consoles. Sorry, but they weren't. These days, PCs and consoles all get the same stuff. They're all games on CD developed for a given platform. There's no reason for them to cost any differently.ButchDeadlift

Yeah please show me where console games had the quality of "Tie Fighter" or "Freespace" or "Deus Ex" or "Carrier Command" or "Command and Conquer" etc etc etc. In the past PC games were of much higher quality than console games. Yes there is a reason for the cost difference, you are just ignoring it. There is the CONSOLE ROYALTY fee which is around $7 - $10 and something the PC DOES NOT HAVE. So it is only right that console games are more expensive than PC games because console games incur extra costs to publishers.

No offense to anyone, but let's face it. Going forward, some PC games will be $60. Maybe not all, but the big titles will definitely see the big six-O.

Am I happy with that idea? Probably not, but I don't have a choice because I love my damn games. :(

Edit: On the BRIGHT side of things, some digital download services (gamersgate, D2D, Amazon.com, etc) are selling games on launch lower than $60. Like Bulletstorm at Gamersgate is $54. To some people, that's not a significant mark down, but wherever you can save, I say do it.

Let the prices go up it doesn't really matter to me.

Other than New Vegas, I didn't pay more than $20 for any game I bought last year. With online distribution and all of those wonderful sales I didn't need to. Oddly enough, when games were cheaper, I used to buy everything new, usually the day it came out, but now I just wait until the price drops.

I have no problem waiting. And, looking at this years lineup of wonderfully inventive console ports and sequels, I'm not seeing much of anything (with a few possible exceptions) worth more than $15 - $20 anyhow. So I'll wait and I'm fine with that.

I have no problem waiting either. There are WAY too many major titles coming out this year and although I don't mind these prices as much as the next guy, I understand from a business perspective why it is needed. Still, I will wait until the major releases drop down to around $40. As always, I buy brand new. No exceptions. I never rent either.

Yup, but what pisses me off is that the pc version nowadays is a port. So we pay 10 bucks more for a shamefull port? Just how much the companies dissrespect us? Enough to get those low sales i guess.

Well I know the game is not a mmorpg. I am guessing multiplayer is co-op or they have some sort of versus games.

This is pretty much how I roll right now. The only exception is SC2 which I bought at full price on release... but that's because I really really wanted it, plus I got a gift card and a free hat. For the other times, I'm a cheapo. Steam and Gamersgate provide good deals and helps me with this.

Some of the big publishers believe that they can make the most money by selling the game at $60 for PC. Let's face it, guys. Big business doesn't understand PC gaming at all. We are talking about the same people who think PC games are unprofitable due to piracy. They are totally clueless.

Many small publishers and indie games will always thrive on PC because they can provide good entertainment at a good price, usually with reasonable or no DRM. Big business is totally disconnected from reality.

Either devs are greedy or dev cost is rising.

Even The Witcher 2 is 50 bucks and oddly Battlefield 3 even though Crysis 2, Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age 2 are 60 bucks.

Only game I got for 60 bucks is StarCraft II and I'm not doing that again.

Not at all, weak textures, they even made the game smaller to fit in the x360 disc. Yes there were suposed to be 2 wastelands. Also they said that it will be console focused and that it wont have dedicated servers.

I think I'd rather put my cash on Diablo 3 that is especially made for the PC versus Rage which is just ported.

I wont be paying 60 for it. If u pay 60 for these games your telling them all that its ok to sell PC games for that price. PC gamers dont pay royalty fees so there is no need for the extra cost of these games.

I won't pay $60 for this game even if it is the GOTY so they just lost my sale if that's the price. For $49 I require a demo, but soon as they go into console game territory I step away from the sale.
