This looks really great and not only graphically, but it terms of gameplay it could be really innovative. I'm pretty sure it will be much better than Doom 3!

Hmm I like it. It looks like Rage will have a nice sense of personality to it. I really like the idea of giving us a choice between racing, stealth and exploring. I hope this can be open-ended but still a tight, interesting, action-filled experience. It does seem similar to Fallout 3 with the post-apocalyptic setting. Hopefully we can still have a huge gameworld without large parts of it being dull and uninteresting.
"...I mean, yes, you can use the mouse for it but it's critical that the controller be the way we design the game."
This is a bit of a concern but hopefully id will stay true to their PC audience and not shaft them like some others have.
The article also mentions a website at the end. It's like an interactive journal. You can see a panorama of the game's setting and can click on a few things and hear some bits and pieces from the protagonist.
Cool, thanks, I haven't noticed the website link at the end. I like the fact that you can play in whichever way you prefer. It's something I've been expecting a long time. Games that give you options to play in whichever way suits your playing habits. Hopefully it will be playable with mouse + keyboard in the FPS parts. There's nothing more wrong than an FPS with a controller! I'm also interested in the textures technology. I think that one failure in games of this generation, even games like Crysis are textures when looking closely at an object. I also like the way the changed from closed, dark environments to an open sun bright landscape. It's still obviously an Id game, but a much more beautiful one.Hmm I like it. hold on a minute its a fps? okk this pawns borderlands... screw you and your cartoonish graphics bordelands..... we will play RAGE!!!! Has anyone noticed that games constantly copy each other or they have way too many similarities? eg both far cry 2 and re5 took place on africa far cry 2 and stalker clear sky are both openended fps with big emphasis to the weapons infamous and protoype.....so similar godfather 2 and mafia 2 modern warfare 2 and bad company 2 borderlands and rage ..... arma 2 and operation flashpoint 2...if you dissagree ok but am just saying.....
imagine mass effect or crysis or doom 4 with cellshaded graphics or fallout 3..... meh Ohh and havent you heard? brown and grey shooters are called "next generation"....  well i guess with the same logic crysis is the most green shooter i ever seen....but it still looks good, so whats the issue with the colors? What's wrong with cartoonish graphics? Borderands looked like ass before they changed the sty1e, it was one of the most brown shooters ever. It was like a giant pudding with guns.

Team fortress 2 has sweet graphics and they are cartoon graphics too, but any way I think its one of those games that may be very hit and miss for me, it could work but I just don't like the car concept of it.

Both ME and F3 would look cool with cell shading. F3 would receive insane amounts of hate obviously but it's far enough away from the old Fallouts for me to care.

ok its like this: i was excited for borderlands and at the last moment the tremendous idiots at gearbox thought it will be cool to change the graphics into cellshaded because they prove that they suck at graphics on brother in arms hells highway..... try to understand how i feel, its like i was backstabed.... i mean so many years on development and they changed the graphics....profit? NO, Delay? YES!! So lets just say that at the last moment bioware decided to change the graphics in mass effect 2 in cellshaded....ehmm yeah everyone would hate them. Now if you honestly believe that mass effect would look "cool" with cellshaded graphics.....please dont reply to my message :(.....[QUOTE="Filthybastrd"]

Mass Effect could easily work with something similar although I'm sure it'd appeal to a smaller audience.
This actually looks greally good. And about the cartoonish graphics issue, I think Borderlands would have been a lot better without this new cell-shaded art style. I'm not saying its bad, I mean the game still looks great. But if you asked me to pick between them I'd pick a more realistic style any day. Theres just something about it that provides a more serious atmosphere.
Serious atmosphere?
I guess you haven't heard the high level monsters are called Badass *whatever*. It also has vagina monsters and sniper rifles that shoot cannonballs.
Mass Effect would look great cell-shaded, all characters already look like action figures anyway.

Perhaps serious wasn't the right word. I prefer realistic graphics over cell-shaded graphics any day, just like you would rather have chocolate ice cream over vanilla ice cream. Its all preference, I just happen to prefer may games to look more realistic.
