Thinking about getting one of these, which is the better SP game experience?

I've played Crysis 2 to completion and am now playing RAGE. Both games are very good, but I'd choose Crysis 2 as I found the pacing and tactical approaches more enjoyable. RAGE is more of an in-your-face, fast-paced shooter
I was really bored with Crysis 2.
It just felt like another CoD wannabe that dreamed with the stars. I didn't get past the first few hours, but i suppose i'll have to give it another shot since i payed for it.
RAGE is decent, shooting, IA and visuals(when they aren't loading) are all fantastic but everything else is meh.
So go with RAGE.
I'll never understand the comparison between Crysis 2 and CoD. Completely different games.I was really bored with Crysis 2.

Its more the move towards CoD territory when compared to the origianal Crysis. No one can deny Crysis 2 is extremely linear compared to Crysis. The physics were less advance, and there was a greater emphasis on hiding behind walls and hand holding.

Just that it's on a smaller scale doesn't automatically make it a CoD-wannabe. Also, just the fact that it's linear doesn't make it a CoD-wannabe. Yes, you can aim down the iron sights and the crosshairs open up like a volcano when you're running, but that's where it ends. And yes, you hide behind walls, but when you think about it - where did you hide in Crysis? Behind rocks, trees, bushes, shacks etc. It's about the hiding, not what you hide behind.CoD is about all-out shooting from cover and pushing forward, while Crysis 2 is about stealth, contemplation and planning. It's much more about tactical play than it is about arcade-ish shooting, even if it's not in a huge, wide-open area.
By the way, while the levels may look smaller than those in the original Crysis, they still provide quite a bit of freedom, both in terms of movement and in terms of tactics. You can tackle almost every given fight in many ways - I tried it and it works. It works just like it did in the original Crysis, which, to be honest, wasn't as wide-open as I thought it would be (especially after playing Far Cry). You just had bigger corridors that branched off into smaller corridors with nothing interesting in them but pretty shadows and waterfalls.

I didn't say it was a "CoD-wannabe" I just said that if you compare the two games Crysis 2 draws many similarities with the corridor shooters of recent. In Crysis I could beat Koreans to death with ammo crates and branches, cave in ceiling on top of squads, fill a jeep with C4 and drive into a hangar. In Crysis 2 I had nanovision and I could steady my aim while in cloak. All of the cool stuff that made Crysis freeform and an excellent sandbox : Gone.
Crysis 2 should have had be using manhole covers as frisbee's, lamposts as clubs, car doors as shields. Its a good game, but a major disapointment comapred to the original.
i would say Rage, even though i played it a little; Crysis 2 IS ALOT more linear than the first one,, at least rage is more opened world
Ive played through both..Enjoyed rage more..Even though some say its underatted as far as game goes. Not sure what people wanted to see in the game to be different..At the time i remember people complaining about rage..Thought it was a fun decent game..Crysis 2 i remember the none direct x 11 and people killing the graphics back than..Now that it has it its not to shabby..Both are fun though..

You didn't say that, of course - I'm not connecting you to that being said. Someone else had said that, and that's what bothered me. Yes, I agree that Crysis 2 is simplified from Crysis, and I agree that it could use environmental gameplay, but I'll say this once again - it's unfair of anyone to compare the game to something that's different, as with anything else. If you want to compare a single-player Battlefield or Medal of Honor to CoD - be my guest. Crysis 2 is in different territory, as streamlined as it is.Rage is boring as hell i can'tbelieve people prefer it over crysis 2. You do the same thing over and over again...

Yeah I agree 100%. RAGE got boring for me pretty quickly, whereas I had a good time with Crysis 2. I'd go with Crysis 2 easily.

Just like Call of Crysis (2)!
Rage was more fun but I heard it had some problems on the PC version which (hopefully) have been sorted by now.
Rage has more variety but Crysis 2 is much faster and more for the action oriented gamer. Depends on your taste since they're both great games.
I played about 2 hours of Crysis 2 before deleting it the first time. Since then, I've found a fix for the FOV and plan on trying it again.
Although Rage wasn't anything super special in the shooter world and the graphics are super weird and just awful (when you are standing at a curve in a tunnel and can't tell if the tunnel continues or not because the textures are so muddy, and the disjointed skybox towards the end of the game that seems completely disconnected from the planet) at times, I still had fun with it. The shooting was fun and some of the weapons were really cool.
At this point, I'd say Rage.
