I have a raid 0 setup on my Asus p8p67 deluxe on a marvel controller.

Im using two of these

I ran a benchmark & the results are kinda worrying me?

im guessing its the marvel controller, but even then should the results be that bad? Tbh i never installed teh raid drivers since windows didn't let me during setup. can I install them now?

Raid is only really good with SSDs or with a dedicated raid controller card.

it is the .05MB/s for the 4K test that worries me to be more specific.

Why are you using the marvel controller? The results look ok, but not that impressive. I don't know what to tell you about the 4k tests though. Also you bought green drives, they are slow.

Don't use the marvell controller, use the intel ones. They are faster speeds. I use 2 xwd caviar black in raid 0 with asus p8p67 pro and i get an average read of 224MB

Also your stripe size will have an impact, i use 128kb because i use it mainly for gaming and it doesn't matter if i'm doing work.

I find 64 to be faster usually.

Im guessing that since it uses a PCIe bus that may be the problem? Don't know why im using that. ill try to witch it with the intel. Yeah i didn't realize I was buying green drives at the time. Need to learn to read a bit more throughly :? My strip size is 64k. Thats the max that the controller allowed anyway. Seems like a good balance tho. Maybe i should install the drivers? Windows didn't let me install them during the install.

I'd give the Intel controller a shot first if you're down with reinstalling - before messing with stripe sizes, at least. Though honestly, pulling 2.xMB/s out of green drives on 4K is pretty awesome, no? If memory serves, just under 1MB/s was the norm for platter-based disks of pretty much any desktop speed. It might just be something about the green drives and the special firmwares they use, in the end.
