Rainbow Six: Vegas was a decent enough blast, but mostly when playing co-op with my eldest son (we played it on the console). Personally I still think Raven Shield was the best in the series, and I don't think we'll ever get another really tactical game like that from UbiSoft.
The real problem I had with the Vegas games was that it didn't matter how much you planned, scoped out targets, spied on enemies behind doors, and set up pincer movements, because as soon as you entered a room more enemies would suddenly come pouring out of other doors and it descended into a free-for-all. The 'tactics' just mostly fell by the wayside in favour of being a cover shooter. So from my perspective, there was no sense of achievement for 'outsmarting' the enemies - you just got continually ambushed no matter what your tactics.
So in all honesty, if they deliver another game like the Vegas series, I probably won't touch it.
