whats a reasonable amount of Ram for a comp running XP. I have my newegg wishlist set to get 4gigs of it but is 2 good or is 4 necessary

the only reason I am getting 4 is to play a few xbox 360 ports that are comeing layter this year >.> Assasins creed.. But I guess the ram I picked is good and not expensive.
