My OS is Vista 64 bit Ultimate and I have 4GB RAM but Vista still shows it as 3.25 GB. I thought that a 64 bit OS would resolve this issue but nothing has changed. Any suggestions?

You running DDR2 800? Because according to MSI's website that boards limits to only 4GB when using DDR2 800, weird. That would be my guess.opamandoI don't see how that would have anything to do with it. If it limits to 4GB hes still not getting the amount of ram he should be.

Why does 32-bit Windows see less than 4GB....... I think it is the same deal. Can you think of a better explanation?

Well, 32-bit is only capable of addressing 4GB of total memory, so I just do see that as being the same. It would probably have some sort of disclaimer about not being able to see all the RAM if that was the reason. My guess would be DDR2-800 puts more stress on the memory controller and thats the only reason it only works with 4GB, but you should still be seeing all of it.
which processor do you have? mayb you have a 32 bit processorjoshuahaveron
Lol, he would have to have an ancient CPU for that to be the case.
I think we're talking pre pentium 4
I'm confused about this 32/64 bit issue, as after installing 4gb in my computer, expecting to see it showing as 3.5/3gb in system properties, it does actually show 4gb. So my question is, is my computer using all 4gb, or just showing it in system properties as to let me know what is actually installed. I have a Sony Vaio FZ21z.starlinct
Computer won't be using all 4GB unless it is an application that uses lots of memory. It show 4GB whether you have 4 GB available to the system or not.
If you bring up the Task Manager and click performance there is the Physical memory there which you can use in MB. Most applications rarely use this. Most games will use 2GB max.
