ok which option would you chose:
1. 3 sticks of 1gb ram running in single channel at 800mhz
2. 4 sticks of 1gb ram running in dual channel at 667mhz (but it only registers as 3.3gb of ram because of 32 bit os)
so which would yo chose, #1 or #2

Yea that is true but and this is just me. I'm going to stick with 1 gig more cause I don't really and I don't want to and I don't have the money to go offf and buy 3 1gig sticks of ram nor do I realy care to do it that away caues seeing that I'm ot in dual channel as it is cause I have 1 gig stick and 2x512mb of another and so just adding 1 more stick of ram wont matter to me.
To tell the truth I'm not sure if dual channel ram is realy any faster then single and if that was so would I see any kind of a difference. If I did decide to put in 4. Would this 4 help out sc.
#2, and the reason is NOT because of the 32bit os. The 32 bit has nothing to do with that limit, that is soley a XP limitation.
however dual channel will almost always trump single

what are you talking about? the 4 gig limit isn't artificially imposed, no 32 bit os can address more than 4g of ram. at least not without some wonky workaround.
Well that was my plan to do so in the first place cause I already have 1 gig of ram and 2x512 in the other slots and so all I'm going to do now is buy another one gig and put it in and so that will do me just fine.
I don't plan on doing vista any time soon in a matter of fact right at the moment 3 gigs is my max and that is fine with me. Now just wondering why would you up it any higher then this. At the moment I don't think games use up that much mem.
Also I'mnot sure how high far as the mem goes for ddr mobos cause that is what I have at the momentl.
