Ram speed or memory?

Ok. When I built my PC i guess the ram I ordered wasn't compatible with my mobo and i've been having some blue screens and after trying to fix it I am going to try to get some RAM from my compatible list (Asus M4A77TD PRO Motherboard). I was wondering, what would be better getting 4 gigs of memory with speeds of say DDR3 1333 or getting less memory but higher speed? Like say 2-3 gigs of DDR3 1600 speed? I am trying to make this a good gaming PC.

4GB 1333Mhz >> 2GB 1600Mhz. The prices should be similar though, just get whatever 4GB DDR3 kit is cheapest.

Your forgetting about cas timing, which matters more, not sure for intel i5/i7. Still slower ram > faster ram when you compare sizes. Dont worry about ram speed if you do not have the budget for it and if you had to ask than is not in spending range. I get lockups with 2gb because I run out of ram, but I put very slow ram + 1gb and it made a worlds difference despite slowing down the other two.

Is Crucial.com really good with determining compatible RAM? I entered my mobo information and they suggested some, but they aren't on the compatibility list I got from ASUS.com. Is it really 100% guarenteed?

You have to set the timings manually though, for some reason the auto detect originally detected it at 9-9-9-24
