Alright...I was just wondering something...currently in a vista machine im building up I have 2x512 mb DDR 667. I have two open slots, and from what I read about my mobo I must install new ramm in pairs. Which I already knew, but when I upgraded my XP machine I ended up with 4 sticks of 512.

My question....can I add two 1 gig sticks

these

with my current 2X512mb to get 3 gigs? Or do I have to buy 2 more 512's..just to equal 2 gigs...if thats the case, im just going to buy the two 1 gig sticks and take the 512's out completely. But I was just curious if I could get away with 3 gigs...Thanks. I know its late, but I would really like some help. Thanks!

JUST look at how cheap that memory is...

for people interested

1 GIG

VISTA CURRENT

AMD X2 4000+

1 gig

Crappy X1200 onboard GPU

UPGRADE

along with the mentioned memory upgrade....CPU isn't the best, but it'll do.

Thanks again.

You can get away with 3GB and it would work fine. Obviously, the same type and size of RAM is preferred, but 2x512 and 2x1024 is very possible. Hope it helps.

Also, since you are building a machine to play the new upcoming games at high settings, if you can fork over a little extra money and upgrade your video card, it would greatly help. An upgrade to a 1950XT or 7950GT or even 8800GTS if you can afford would greatly improve your gaming. Thats only if your incline to spend some more money, if not, enjoy your new rig :)

Yeah I plan on upgrading to the

XFX 8600 GT its currently $139.99 at newegg, and it can play UE3 games @ high medium/low high settings...if you know what i mean...

I don't want to max out everything...an 8800 is to much money....

my plan is in a couple of years to upgrade to SLI with the 8600. with a new cpu and a new case and mobo etc.
