I've been using xfire since 2006. I am getting kind of frustrated with it though. Now they are putting focus on their xfire store, and seem to only be adding xfire support the most mainstream games. It's stupid, cause adding games takes minimal coding, and it could be so easy to just add all, or at least most pc games. I can't even track Machinarium without editing the program data files, becaues they only support the steam version, not the official original version. Alot of indie games have no support whatsoever.

Does raptr show great promise? I don't use it yet, but if it could be the future of tracking games, I would definitely look into it.

i haven't used raptr a lot but i have been disappointed quite quickly. its main purpose is tracking games and achievements and communicating with friends. it doesnt do much except that, it has a lot less features than xfire. i found xfire better in every way and i hated raptr interface so i uninstalled it quickly to save system resources.

It's Okay, I just use it to keep track of Console Games, I Dont know if you can chat in-game though like you can with xfire, Unless anyone else has found a way to do it. But Like X-Fire it has Cross IM support so you can Chat With your X-Fire contacts.

Raptr is good if you want to track 360 games and achievements as well as upload status and achievements to Facebook. Other than that, xfire absolutely destroys it. No screenshots, video capture, or anything. Also, Raptr has less support for games than xfire.

Raptr is cool but I wish the MSN would work proper because people can't see your display pic or anything on the other end. That's the only thing that pisses me off. You guys can add me though: RobboElRobbo. :D

I love Raptr. Considering it's still in beta and they're still implementing features, this is a very good program. I forgot all about Xfire once I started using it.

At the very least, it's worth trying it out. You may like it. Not like it costs you anything.

I only use Raptr because windows messenger stopped working and i hated Ebuddy. It's good at tracking games and acheivements, but for everything else Xfire is better.

Raptr has no ingame chat options, screenshot or video options and as far as I'm aware it doesn't auto download patches like xfire does.

But then again it is still in its "beta phase" as it were... things are changing all the time, they are responding somewhat to user feedback, who knows it might be on par with xfire in the future.

A good free IM client is Pidgin. Works great, is lightweight. Can add just about any IM too it.

I used Raptr but it was very resource hungry. You cannot upload screenshots though Raptr, so I switched back to Xfire.
Pidgin is a great multi protocol IM client, which also has a Xfire plugin - just search for Gfire. I use that plugin on the laptop because I don't usually play games on it, and I don't want to run Xfire and Pidgin at the same time.

I use it to track 360 games, if it weren't for that, I wouldn't use it at all.

I use the website to track my 360 hours, I use xfire for PC hours.
