I gave my girlfriend similar laptop.. C2D 1.6Ghz, GF 8600m GT, 2G ram, with Vista home premium... and:

SupCom runs fine on high, SupCom:FA runs terrible on low

Stalker runs on medium to low

UT3 runs on low same as on medium.. choppy, unplayable for MP

HL2+episodes,CSS, Portal, L4D and mods runs fine on medium to high+some AA, L4D needs to be a little decreased for fluency, TF2 was laggy on medium

Bully runs fine on medium to high

Crysis runed between low and medium but after the first bunch of mission it started lagged hard

CoH runned there on medium fluently,

Soulstorm on medium fluently

Swat 4 was okey on high if I remeber (not sure)

Vegas 2 was laggy on lowest settings on 800x600

WiC runned ther fine on medium (but first mission was laggy, rest was okey)

Age of Empires 3 was okey on high

CoD4 between medium and high with some AA was okey too

C&C3 was laggy on medium and I didn't played it much

I don't remeber all games I tried there in the end she has all Sims 2 games and Zoo tycoon and don't give a damn about the rest.. .and I play Swat3 and Ghost recon on my work laptop... just make sure you got those custom laptop drivers and choose right version.. this makes a difference

He might even be abe to do medium depending on how smooth he likes it. My friend ran Crysis on medium with a single core AMD Athlon64 3200 and a 7900GT at 1280*1024.

yeah totally possible might have to use custom settings though

I give it 6/10 as you will be playing on low settings for most games. On the bright side there are no games you can't play.Jade_Monkey

I got Crysis to work on a very old PC. You can read about HERE. As you can see, the configuration was quite low. So I get the feeling Crysis is going to run without lag on low settings. Its not going to look pretty, but that's understood.

I can play Fifa 09 on low settings with an integrated intel video card. Your 8600 should be able to play a bunch of new games on medium/low

i heard Dawn of War 2 will run smoothly.....what do you guys think? i just ordered the game...
