I recently decided to put together a gaming pc ( I have always wanted one). I wanted to build one that could max out all games presently and that down the road I could sli. The parts are coming next week and I am nervous about building it myself. I have looked at videos and to me the hardest part looks like putting in the mobo correctly(All those atx stubs dont wanna screw it up) and cable managment. Just wanna hear some feedback on it =)

Well it's a very nice build with no blunder but still I feel you didnt think some things through.

Your PSU is not enough to SLI GTX 580 so why pay more for the SLI board? Buying a new PSU when you want to SLI completely kills the value you get out of such a thing. And the PSU itself is a medium quality unit, you really should have gone corsair with that budget.

Secondly the casing does not exactly compliment the rest of the system as well as it could if you spent a bit more on it but I guess you could have done worse.

The GTX 580 is overpriced but I guess you are aware of it and if thats what you really wanted then nothing too wrong with it.

9/10 overall - dont like the casing and PSU you choose given your budget so a point deducted for that.

yeh now that you say that the psu was prolly bad to get this early. I am planning to sli down the road but not for awhile so I guss I will just upgrade then...mental slip lol. As for the case I went with reviews...has like 980 reviews average 5 out of 5 stars. People said there was alot of room and they didnt have problems with it and it was the best mid tower case for the price.

Cant you just return it and get a corsair 850W??

And ya the casing is very good for the price, I just feel you should have spent around $30 more and get something like the HAF 922. But still the antec 300 is fairly respectable case, try to return the PSU and you are good.

your psu you chose is crap, your case is crap (well this doesn't matter so much since its just a case). Also it looks like you skimped out on overall build of your comp just to get the 580gtx in your computer.....its not like you will experience enlightenment by going with the 580 gtx over cheaper cards that have 95% of the performance like the 570 gtx and the 6970.

Buying a new PSU when you want to SLI completely kills the value you get out of such a thing.

Gambler_3
Youre not really getting any "value" when you SLI 580s. They are freaking expensive and not really worth it unless you have some massive set up going on.

Ya true but maybe the price will go down a bit in the future, look at the GTX 480 now. That card was also not very good value when it came and now it is one of the best value.

Yeah, but its still very expensive. Either way, if you can afford SLI 580s a new PSU wont be too daunting.

Failed to read OP message? he's more asking if the parts he puts together are good, agree that the title is not good but your posts are useless. To OP: If you just made your order, chances are they haven't begun to ship yet (they don't do on week-end). You can call and cancel or make changes to your purchase directly over the phone, I do it all the time (for some reason, I always find something cheaper elsewhere after making purchase). Edit: Also, if you cancel, don't forget to call your credit card company, they tend to disable your credit card after multiple similar purchases (even if cancelled).

I know the case isnt crap because of the reviews, as long as it can hold my stuff and cool it decently i dont care. The psu got decent reviews as well. all people said was to get a 80+ certified psu. I am not planning on sli for a long time( when the price goes down a bunch i might). I just wanted to make sure I had a motherboard that could support it now so i didnt have to switch later. Maybe even tri sli years down the road.
