Rig... finally picked up the ;ast part for my upgrade

P5N-D

Q9450

2X88oogt's

4X1gb Centon 1066 (BC 8ooMghz)

the rest is average stuff but upgrading to a cheetah hdd (size depending on the needs)

getting internal Bluray drive but it's the least important right now.

Has anyone had any problems out of a q9450/P5N-d combo?

swap out your ram for corsair and unless u plan on running 64 bit OS, u dont need 4GB.

good idea, i'll look into that after my pockets recover a little bit.. that d--- proc, if it only didn't carry the intel price tag but for 1ghz overclock, i shouldn't complain too much.

one question though.. the lga775 socket cpu-cover, is it suppose to require a little bit of force to lock the lever into place under the tab? ...the proc wasn't cheap.. =P.. I love the pin-less design..

Yeah it should require a bit of force, but if you hear cracking noises then you have got a problem.

Yeah it does, I was also a little worried when building my first lga775 system, since I've been used to zif sockets. Requires a bit of force, might creak a bit as well, it's normal though.

creaking = normal

cracking = bad.

You must know the difference.

whew!~ i was worried for a sec there.. I can't believe that whenever it comes to a upgrade/build, i'm instantly transformed into some novice who can't tell the difference between the mobo and a memory dimm.

creeking = normal

I do know the difference, "creaking" refers to sound, which would be caused by the friction when the CPU locks into place.

"cracking" would be a sound caused by physical damage, which would be bad.

"creeking" isn't even a word...
