Get a BIGGER MONITOR. Higher resolution will DEFINITELY improve the graphics. And by the way, your computer can take probably anything that you throw at it right now. I'd probably go for a Zalman fan, but yours is okay. 8/10

You could do just fine with a lower-wattage PSU. Something like a Corsair 620HX should be sufficiant.

You could have SLI. 9/10 I say.

I do not trust to cordless keyboard/mouse...

you should take 20" minimum...and play a way bigger resolution!

(well not that I have a worse monitor or PC, but...you can have a way better!)

Everything is great except the monitor. Get a new monitor and you'll be set for a long time.

Bigger monitors need bigger resolutions pretty much. You are running a smaller monitor. It all depends on how much space you have. I knew I was moving into a dorm so therefor I just bought a 19" 16:10 monitor running at a 1440x900 resolution.

For you, you defeantly want to get a bigger monitor, because 17" is small. Then just run everything at the native resolution of the monitor and you will be fine.

You have a very powerful gaming computer that can handle upgrades. The monitor is the only thing that needs to be worked on. It is just really small. A bigger screen allows for a bigger resolution which in turn makes games more detailed.

20" montiors are best at a 1600x1200 resolution. A 19" monitor is best a 1440x900 (for 16:10). Again, it is all about how close you are to your monitor and how much space you have.

I find it funny the number of people who dismiss CRT monitors as "****" when none of their LCD monitors could come *close* to the color fidelity even a run-of-the-mill CRT offers. Unless he's willing to drop some serious cash on an IPS-panel LCD monitor (what few are left) he's going to be trading resolution for color-banding. Fun times.

TC, if you are looking to upgrade, that's a powerful GPU and can handle a high-res monitor. Judging from your PC, you have the money and care about quality, so just keep your eyes out at HardOCP and AVS so you can get something that will make you happy.

My advice is never to play over 1680X1050 regardless of your hardware. A good 22" will be enough. Games are gonna come out that will rape 8800GTX's on SLI. Unless you don't mind spending $1000 on SLI every 1.5-2 years to make sure games play at 60FPS then don't get a screen thats so big. Something that always bothers me is that people with big 24" screens + would rather pay over a $1000 on just the video card upgrade than spend on a smaller but yet very good screen.

That rig is a MONSTER,but if you want to save money in the long run,i'd stick with 12x10 and 8800 Ultra, that card will max out games at that res for quite a while.

However if you have hundreds if not thousands of dollars to burn, definitely get a 24" even though you'll likely need a new grafx card within 1.5 years.

Considering that your motherboard cannot support SLI, you wasted a lot of money on a PSU you simply don't need. a good 600 watt PSU would have worked fine.

In my opinion you wasted money on the processor as well, but if you have the money I guess its ok to spend that much.

An ultra is also a waste in terms of price/performance, but obviously you are loaded.

That monitor is a joke with that system. I'd get a good monitor (LCD or CRT) that supports no less than 16x10 or 16x12 resolution. Less than that is wasting the overpriced but incredible horsepower of your PC.

If i were to rate it I would give it two ratings.

1 based on sheer performance : 9/10,

and one based on price/performance: 4/10.

Lcd's save space, but the color clarity of the catho ray tube(crt) monitor is amazing. Its really good to have one just in case you ever need it.

Intel QX 6850 3.5 ghz (OC) = I would get the 6600 same speed higher fsp with a lower multiplier get the zalman 9700

Gigabyte P35-DS3 = good choice I like asus better

Corsair Dominator PC2 14400 2gb * 2gb = great choice but ocz reaper is cheaper plus over voltage is under warrenty

XFX 8800 Ultra 768 mb = This is just a waste the gtx is cheaper plus only a few fps back

Sigate Chita 300 gb 15,000 rpm scsi =get 2x raptor x 150gig in raid 0 better read speed slighter slower write speed plus a 500 for data storage and have money to spare

Plextor 18x dvd writer = great choice plextor is the best

lg 16x dvd writer with light scribe = A waste imo rip to hard drive then use the plextor to burn the image but it's cheap

Creative X-Fi Platinum with 64 mb X-Ram = great choice but overkill unless your making music also eax does not run w/vista

Creative GigaWorks S750= great choice

Golden Field Thermal Casing = Get the stacker from coolmaster the most perfect case I have ever used

Thermaltake 1000 watt PSU = NNnnnooo only use power and cooling or corsair trust me on this I have the 750 silencer runs my 2900xt crossfire plus water cooler no problem.

Thermaltake uv fan 5 pices

DUDE!!! If your loaded get a 1080i HDTV and hook up your PC on it... Don't for get Liquid Nitrogen for cooling if you plan to OC!!!

On a serious note get at least a 22" if you stick to 17" then the ultra is a COMPLETE waste of money...

Ps - I wasn't joking about the HDTV... It's far superior to 24" moniters :D...I could hook my PC up with mine but I'll get constant agro from my gf

actually i did not get any suggestions, when i upgrade my pc. i know i can overclock my cpu more, but i am worried about my ram. though it is very expensive, and in my country the warrenty system of corsair is not good. so i can not want to oc it so much. also, i think its low letency and speed will help me a lot so that i do not have to oc it. for the gpu, i have a plan to buy a quadro fx 4600, or 5600 if i have the money. and many many thanks for the website address. i am going to buy a 20 crt as soon as possible.

The quadro is for graphic artist not gamers unless your running CAD and gaming on the side it's slower and a waste of money. I also think the ultra is a waste of money you can buy a oc'd gtx for $500 that's only3 or4 fps slower and $200 cheaper. You could also get a crossfire 2900xt 512mb for almost the same price as just one ultra I broke 19k on 3dmark06 so ATI does not suck it's just a little slower but alot cheaper with better drivers.

I think you seem to underestimate the power of your PC but i also game on a 17" CRT monitor and am perfectly fine with it.But if you have the money go for a bigger CRT.And dont worry too much about the max res of a CRT monitor as you can lower resolutions with easeon CRT monitors.

Your card can EASILY max out above 16*12 on any game. But that may not be the case a year from now.I think you just get a 21" CRT.I cant suggest you any as i dont know much about big CRT monitors.

Well actually seriously IF you really have DA money then get a 1080P HDTV.But if you cant or dont have the space then NOTHING to worry and go ahead with a CRT monitor. And your current monitor definitely does not suck.

[QUOTE="Thinker_145"][QUOTE="subrosian"]I find it funny the number of people who dismiss CRT monitors as "****" when none of their LCD monitors could come *close* to the color fidelity even a run-of-the-mill CRT offers.

Man i TOTALLY agree with that.I just find it very strange to see the no. of people who say that.Infact you are the only one i have seen defending CRT monitors.I mean we ALL once used to game on them and now they are crap.

i am totally agree with you. i do not want to by a lcd monitor too. i wanna stuck with crt for its awesome color and price performance combination over the lcd. but though i have not enough space, and i think my gpu cant handle max details over 16*12( i think it will be 14*9, though i know this is a powerfull gpu, but i have doublt that it can handle max on higher resolution). so can u suggest me a name of crt of 19 or 20 and the resolution max will be 14*9 for 19 and 16*20 for 20 inch. thanks............

1080p is a waste of money till you can buy one that does 60Hz most of them are 24/25/30hz but cost much more than a 720p @ 60Hz. As for the crt I have no problem with them as they have the best picture but lcd's 2ms are good also and use less power.
