1/102ms in the specifications told me that it's a TN.
I wonder how you can tell what kind (type) of panel it is? Comapnies dont mention it in its specs or anythin.hacker_xyzzy

I've also used 2 CRT monitors(17" & 19") now I'm using 20" LCD monitor & I really liked this monitor than CRT monitors.
It's very clear, higer resolutions & smaller than CRTs. I don't how to explain this technically.

You may have poor quality CRT's.My monitor is 5x as brighter than a normal CRT well ofcourse viewsonic says this but i do notice it's gaming mode brightness to be really bright and the colors are outstanding in it.And BTW my 17" CRT has higher res than your 20" LCD which dismiisses another of your point. My monitor can do 17x13 at 60hz with the highest usable resolution being 16x12 with 75hz.[QUOTE="LahiruD"]Don't waste your money on a CRT monitor.mastershake575whyi have a 19" viewsonic crt and it kicks a55 the picture is amazing you can't get picture like it on a lcd thats the samesize theonly thing the lcd might have thats an advantage is smaller and less power thats about itViewsonic is the best in CRT's IMO.And they still manufacture them.
Ignore these guys, they seem to think LCD monitors are garbage and will have you think CRTs are the only acceptable form of display. That monitor seems pretty good and is getting good reviews.
Here's a pretty handy tool for monitor comparison:

Dude, just from reading the Newegg reviews, your monitor looks like it sucks nuts. Non-flat screen meaning image distortion, low resolution, some reviews mention poor quality up close and reflections, low refresh rates meaning lots of flickering... why would you recommend this piece of trash to anyone? I'd rather the colors on my LCD be slightly off (something you don't notice unless you compare with a picture side-by-side) to a distorted picture + flickering + crappy resolutions.
actually its not really that great id get this one its the one i have and its amazing http://h30094.www3.hp.com/product.asp?sku=2256602&jumpid=ex_r2910_CIYATC i would suggest you this monitor. It's a steal for $200.Really fine quality monitor.

I see rosewill PSU's have such nice reviews at newegg.:roll:That monitor actually got 5 out of 5 from 55% reviewers and a furthur 4 out of 5 from 24% only leaving a minority who didnt like it.And besides CRT's are NOT as flat as a LCD thus we have people complaining about it when they should have known that CRT's are not as flat as LCD's.It's like someone buying a LCD and then complaining about the native resolution afterwards.
But since the TC has a budget of $300 how about this.

[QUOTE="Thinker_145"]whats wrong with the other monitor im looking at it from a side right now and it seems perfectly flatWell it is horizontly flat but vertically it isnt exactly "perfect flat".Look at the corners and you may notice however this is just not something to bother and i have no problems with it.That monitor actually got 5 out of 5 from 55% reviewers and a furthur 4 out of 5 from 24% only leaving a minority who didnt like it.And besides CRT's are NOT as flat as a LCD thus we have people complaining about it when they should have known that CRT's are not as flat as LCD's.It's like someone buying a LCD and then complaining about the native resolution afterwards.

It's an awesome monitor. I've had the LG Flatron 20.1 widescreen for over 1 year now and absolutely love it. It's super bright, colors are beautiful, no back light bleeding and no dead pixels. The response time is really good and it has a very high contrast ratio. I wish I had purchased the 22", but at that time it was much more expensive than it is now. It's actuall the same price I paid for my 20' LG. The only negative I can say about it, is that it doesn't come with a DVI cable. You have to purchase that separately, but you can pick one up for 15-20 bucks.....it's well worth it.
Well the outer glass is perfect flat but notice that the inner isnt. But the fact that you never even noticed it tells that it isnt something to really worry about.Thinker_145
Yes but when you notice it, it is very frustrating. Kind of like how backlight bleeding and dead pixels might be unnoticeable but immediately stand out when you know they're there. Also, I don't know how you can "not notice" since the picture distortion on non-flat CRT monitors (yes, even if it's just the inside) is fairly apparent when looking at it close-up.
Just because it is TN does not mean it is worthless. I have seen very bad TN monitors, specifically a 19" nView monitor for $200.
cons:
A little banding on RGB gradients and a lot of banding on complex color gradients.
Screen did not have a uniform brightness (lighter in the lower left)
A little ghosting, especially white on black
Poor color representation
Native res
pros:
Good black levels and contrast
Bright
Easy on the eyes as most LCDs are
Sharp
It didn't seem that bad for the money. I would personally get a VA screen, but for people who don't care, it is a good deal.

I think you dont understand it.It's like 99% flat but just not 100%.Heck viewsonic refers it as a perfect flat monitor.I have a 14" curved CRT and my 17" is absolutely nothing like that.I dont really understand what is distortion.I dont really see anything wrong.BTW are there any CRT's which are 100% flat.I have never seen one.My "the then" expensive 29" flatscreen SDTV doesnt seem to be perfect flat with the edges either.
When I was in the Market to buy a new monitor it was between a 22" Acer & a 22"Samsung. I eventually went with the Acer because of the $80 price difference and I couldn't be happier. Best $250 I ever spent. I don't know what people are smoking but I'd never buy a CRT monitor. Have any of these people tried to move around one of those suckers? Especially a 17" plus? What computer part do you always see people throwing out of the window? A CRT monitor.Cuz there are alot of people who are not gamers you know.It is perfectly understandable for a normal household who dont do that much gaming to literally throw their CRT monitor away.CRT monitors are only for gamers and proffesional artists who are serious about something.
trodeback
However unfortunately there are gamers who think that just because everyone is throwing CRT's away,so they should as well and buy some cool looking LCD to impress there GF.
