Rate this rig, please. How long will it last? Will it run Crysis? *NOOB*

Are these good enough essentials to build a decent rig? With a good video card will it be able to run upcoming games such as Crysis, COD4, AC, UT3, Bioshock, Far Cry 2, GeOW, etc. on high settings? How long do you think this will last before I would have to upgrade again? What do you think about the overall price?

Note: I didn't bother to include the price of a k/m and OS because I already have those essentials. I plan on adding an 8800GTS to this rig, but I didn't bother toinclude that just yet(waiting for price drop). No need to include a monitor.

Excellent choices. That will be a nice system and should last for a while.

That's quite a change from the link on your first post... Hmm... I get it... Newegg saves your shopping cart locally... I was looking at my shopping cart that I had put together for someone else.

First of all, do you really need a sound card? On-board audio will do fine. I don't find sound cards worth money IMO. If you plan on getting a high-end video card like the 8800GTS, then your going to need a better PSU.

Don't go with an Apevia PSU, spend the extra $30 and go for a Corsair 450VX, or an OCZ StealthXStream 600W. What video card will you be using?

So cancel out the sound card and use that money to buy a better psu? Okay let's say I do that and buy a 8800GTS, then will I be able to run Crysis and the other gamesat high settings?

P.S. I read the reviews on the motherboard and people say that it's onboard sound doesn't work right with XP. Yet when they install a sound card it works fine. So...... :?

I don't think there will be an issue with the onboard sound, but worst comes to worst, you can always RMA it. Sound cards are just unecessary, and putting the money toward a better PSU would be a much wiser investment. That paired with the GTS should get you high settings in Crysis.

RMA?

*looks at your specs*

How does mine stack up? E6600, is that the Intel? If so, how does the AMD X2 6000+ Dual Core stack up to the Duo Core?

The 6000+ is AMD's equivalent to Intel's E6600.

E6600 - 2.4GHz Dual Core

AMD X2 6000+ - 3.0GHz Dual Core

Performance wise? I don't know...

I would guess the E6300/6400, but I'm not really sure.

Okay I got rid of the sound card and exchanged the psu for a corsair 450vx. Total is now at $596.26, which is in my price range. Now all I need isa good video card, that is quality as well as cheap. Oh and it needs to run Crysis at least on par with what we all saw the devs running it at E3'07. Anybody know what the specs were? Any recommendations?

This is my recommendation.firefly026

I would go with XFX PVT80GGHF4 GeForce 8800GTS 320MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported HDCP Video Card - Retail instead... It's $20 less after rebates.

Wait so why is the E6600 more expensive than the X2 6000, when they are the same equivalent in processing?

P.S. Anybody want to buy a HDTV to help fund my potential rig?

You shouldnt be asking if it will run crysis, any modernish computer components will run it. The question you should be asking is how well it will run. You are going to need top end stuff which will cost over a thousand dollars, i spend £900+ over here in britain easily since the video card is £350+ alone when first new.

if you wanna run the latest games smoothly id suggest AT LEAST an 8800 GTS.

Also AMD's phenom is coming out soon, and its likely to beat the C2D processors. Might be worth holding out, unless you want to play crysis as soon as it comes out, also the 9800 GTX is out before christmas.
