Currently I have a the Logitech X-240 - 2.1 sound. I bought them about 2 months ago, not a big fan of them, but they are fine. I don't use speakers so often (living in residents with a roommate...), but they are always a preference. Now, I saw the Razer Mako 2.1 speakers on sale for about $174, which is extremely temping. Reviews seem really good, and coupled with the new sound card I've ordered (Forte), should sound quite impressive. But, the $174 price is pretty hefty on me, but also, since I got the Logitechs not long ago, It feels like such a waste. About 75% of reviews I've read say quality is good, just price is too high. Now with sale price, that does change things a bit. But, a lot say you can buy even better within the price range. Or equal quality for less. While I'm sure Razer does charge for its name and design (they do look pretty slick), still wondering how worth it these are. For what I know, having the Forte could be enough of a sound improvement I'm looking for. Anyways, back to reading the billions of reviews/opinions/suggestions on the interwebs... Also what does make me doubt is that I use a headset about 90% of the time. Would probably be wasting money in this case, but having no headset is always a preference for music and non FPS games. If I didn't have a roommate, quite sure my speakers would be running most of the time. Would they be worth it at this price? Are the Makos any good? Thanks, NiveouS

The Makos aren't that good. There's so much better stuff out there. You should get bookshelf speakers at that price.

i would get the, its 50% off!!! BUT if its a big hit to ur wallet, then i would just stick with the logitechs i mean its tempting, but using logic u said u dont use speakers often, and that u bought the logitechs not so long ago, and the logitechs arent broken or have anything wrong with them wat i would do, is get a heaps good headset with the money, im asuming you use a headset when u got ur speakers off and one Q, do u play lots of games?

Yes. Check out the M-AUDIO AV 40s. The sound quality is better than that of the Makos, but they are a bit bass light. http://www.amazon.com/M-Audio-Studiophile-AV-Powered-Speakers/dp/B000MUXJCO
