I just purchased some Razer megalodons but unfortunately... they do not work and there is no fix that I have found and Razer has no idea what the problem is by the sounds of it. The problem is, I plug them in and everything seems good. I can see the pretty lights and it shows up in the audio devices and where ever it's supposed to on windows 7 64-bit, but I get absolutly no sound other then static and windows will not even play a sounds test. It just displays the message "failed to perform sound test" or something a long those lines.

So now i'm looking for a new headset/headphones + mic with good sound quallity. Yes I have read the sticky but, I couldn't make sense of it.

I'm in Australia too, so please provide headsets available here. Price is... upto $120. I just lost $180 on those stupid razer things...

A good set of cans plus a good soundcard isuually the way to go, but pricey.

I would suggest the Logitech G35's or the G930 wireless headsets. Pretty good audio and 7.1 positional tech for a USB driven set.

I'm sorry you found the sticky confusing. Where did you get lost? What could be done to improve its readability?

As for your options, brands and pricing are likely different in Australia, but as a computer-user I strongly encourage you to consider a separate headphone and mic rather than a headset. Basically, buy a nice pair of headphones, and add either a clip-on or boom mic such as the Zalman ZM-Mic1 (less than $10 US).

Pick a pair of headphones from the list in the Headphone FAQ that fits your budget and is available in your area, clip on the mic, plug both into their respective ports on your PC, and you should be good to go.

Happy gaming,

Boz

I lot of theose models of headphones I couldn't find, even on the manufacturers website... Could be unavailable in Aus though.

I was planning to get a good set of headphones and we actually already have that little Zalman clip on mic, I jsut need to pick the headphones.

I have 6 USB ports, I tried 3 which all didn't work so I neerly didn't bother to try one of the last 2. Plus normally when I hook things upto the ones I tried they work, just these headphones didn't.
