Since the Wii is limited to 720x480, when you put it in 1:1 mode it's only mapping those pixels.
Olevia is a crap brand, so the scaling electronics are about as cheap as you can get. Combine that with the relative low Wii resolution, and if you're using anything but component and it's going to look terrible, especially on a dark game like that. Your only solution is to buy a new TV, or put your Wii on a normal CRT
I believe Samsung HD LCDs are the best of all. they also have good prices comparing to Sony....onlineps2player
I found a 20" sharp lcd at Circuit City thats un-reviewed. I can't link to it because the message board says my html is bad. Anyone ever seen this tv before?Binky_Barnes
I have an Olevia 27" LCD HD set and when I play RE4 Wii edition it looks really grainy. Is there a way to fix the way the two work together? If I put my tv in 1:1 mode it looks great except the picture is tiny. In aspect or full screen the graininess comes out to play. Thanks for any help.Binky_Barnes
What cables are you using? Composite or Component? If you look hard in 1:1 mode, can you see the grain that you see in the aspect or full mode? It might be there and just magnified at that size. Also make sure sharpness is not too high and such as that can make grain worse.
Also, is it just as bad with other games?
No, Insignia is a terrible brand of anything. In fact it's probably exactly the same TV he's already got (Same Chinese OEM in different boxes)
Sony, Samsung, Sharp, Panasonic, Toshiba, Pioneer
Name brands

I am now a big fan of Westinghouse. Yesterday I picked up a Westinghouse TV, got it home, and:
-Not 1 cloud (even on 100 backlight)
-No Mura
-No Flashlighting
-Instant HDMI syncing
-No Handshaking
-No Banding
-Perfect audio sync
-deep, rich sounding speakers (for a TV pair)
It could be argued that I just got lucky, and you're probably right. But the satisfaction of getting it perfect on the first try has me smiling.
And you also got
Poor de-interlacing
Poor blending
Poor motion estimation
and a lot more things that are important to a good quality image. You get what you pay for.
I hope that the ticking timebomb in there is set to longer than you end up having to keep the set for.

Is that the reputation on all Westinghouse TV's? I paid $1300, down from $1500 for a 42" 1080p set. A 4061F on Amazon is 1528 on sale. Is there really much of a difference in quality?
Last year a co-worker was looking into LCD displays, and was considering a Westinghouse 1080 display. I did everything I could to dissuade him from purchasing one. Even though I told him it was crap, he was blinded by how inexpensive it was. He was nearly ready to make his purchase when, of all people, a Best Buy employee talked him out of it. The guy from BB told him that they refer to Westinghouse displays as "boomerangs" because of the high return rate they have.
Kodai gives the same advice over and over again, in thread after thread. There's a reason for it: he's right. You get what you pay for. You cannot expect to spend ~$1000 and get a large, high quality LCD display. It's just not going to happen.

In the case of their monitors you are correct, they are crap. But I've been looking at the TX series since April, reading up on all of the specs, initial thoughts, etc. etc. And decided to give it a shot. I couldn't be happier on a 1500 dollar 1080p set. There is very little motion judder (only extremely fast moving scenes, and thats 60hz technology, not the TV). Turning de-interlacing on noticeably smooths the edges on discovery HD which, to my knowledge, is broadcast in 1080i (correct me if I'm wrong.) There is some black crush, but nothing as bad as the 4665F which can turn a shadow into a wall of black. Hell, even the SD is great.
I've got the 30 days to return it if I find a problem. But so far, outside of being a bit skeptical, nobody has been able to help me pinpoint a reason, which is why I suggested the brand to the TC. True enough, their monitors are disasters, and outside of the TX series, their televisions are crap as well. It just seems like a little extra thought went into this model line.

Hi, yes if I look carefully the grain and banded "columns" are still there, just smaller. I am using a good component cable.
